Butts-Quinn Speak Vows ti _i n li Marianna Quinn of Kin ston and William Hayden Butts of Lucama were united in marriage at three o'clock Saturday. May 14 in a garden wedding at 1906 Pawnee Drive, Kinston. The Rev. Steve R. Williams of Wendell officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Th j bride was given in mamage by her parents. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Quinn of Kin ston. She is the grand daughter of Mrs. Alma B. Quinn of Beulaville and the late Marion Quinn. and the late Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Williams who lived in Beu laville. The groom is the son of John Franklin Butts of Kin ston and Mrs. Geraldine Moore of Lucama. The bride wore a floor length gown with a chapel train of taffeta and venise lace edged with chantilly lace. The fitted bodice fea tured a scalloped lace yoke and neckline and caplet sleeves. A taffeta ruffle out lined the neckline. The basque waist was lavishly appliqued with venise lace motifs etched with seed pearls. Lace gauntlets com plemented the sleeves of the gown. The bridal veil was a waltz-length mantilla of bridal illusion bordered with garlands of lace flowing from a lace caplet etched with seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and rosebuds, lily-of the-valley, gypsophila, ste phanotis. babies'-breath and ivy. Stephanie Quinn of Kinston, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Donna Williams of Kinston, cousin of the bride; Pam Page and Beth Page, both of Deep Run. Junior bridesmaids were Amy Copeland and Jami-Laura Copeland, both of Kinston. Julie Anna Copeland of Kinston was the flowergirl and Patrick Johnson of Kinston was the ringbearer. I I lie groom enow Douuy Page of Deep Run to serve as best man. Ushers were Wayne Butts of Lucama. Eddie Butts of Florence. S.C. and Dexter Butts, of Flo rence. S.C.. all brothers of the groom. Junior usher was Jason Taylor of Richlands. cousin of the bride. Nuptial music was presented by Ned Bradberry, organist, anbd Mrs. Anna belle Bonham of Rose Hill, cousin of the bride, vocalist. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Jewel Rider and Ms. Dianna McMillin of Kinston presided at the register. The bride is a 1979 gradu ate of Kinston High School and attended Lenoir Com munity College for two years. She is employed with the Piggly Wiggly North Caro lina Company. Kinston. The groom is a 1970 graduate of North Johnston High School in Kenly and attended Wilson Tech. He is employed with Cox Dodge in Wilson. Parties A lingerie shower was given on April 20 by Pam and Beth Page and Donna Wilr liams at the Page home. A floating shower was given on April 23 by Rita Williams. Ruth Page. Frances Gaskins. Myrtle Rhue. Debbie Kennedy and Frances Tilghman at the Tilghman home. A shower was given on May 4 by employees of piggle Wiggly at the home of Judy Martin. A cookout was given on March 11 honoring the couple at the home of Bobby and Ruth Page. A cookout was held on May 9 honoring the groom by employees of Cox Dodge. A bridesmaids luncheon was given on May 13 by Jenny Tavlor. Patricia Cole and Beashie Williams, all aunts of the bride, at Zachary's in Kinston. A pig-picking was held on May 13 following the re hearsal at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Guinn. A champagne reception was held following the cere mony in the garden hostec by the bride's parents. Duplin Duplicate Bridge The Duplin Duplicate Bridge Club played a five table Howell movement Thursday, June 2, with May Autry as director. The win ners were: First - Angel Wart-en of Pink Hill and Doug Clark of Kenansville; Second ? Recie and Lee Allred of Rose Hill; Third - tied position - Morris Grady and Pony Quinn; also Sadie Funderburke and I.J. Sand l.n, all of Beulaville. Helen Caveness of Mount Olive was welcomed as a first-time visitor. The winners of the Mon day morning May 30 game were: First - Lee Allred of Rose Hill and I.J. Sandlin of Beulaville; Second - Fran Beyer and Kay Autry of Kenansville; Third - Angel Warren of Pink Hill and Doug Clark of Kenansville. As of June 6, 1983, the Monday morning game will be officially sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League. The Thurs day evening game has been sanctioned since January 1983. All bridge players are invited to play on Mondays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 7 p.m. at The General Store in Kenansville. BEULAVILLE HEADSTART - The 1983 graduation class of Headstart in Beulaville was held on May 12 with a graduation class of 17. Friends and family are invited to the home of Linda Potter Heath, one mile south of Albertson on Highway 111 from 6:30 until 9 p.m.. I MICRO-COMPUTER WORKSHOP An adult micro-computer workshop will be sponsored by James Sprunt Technical College and Duplin County schools July 18-22 from 6-30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wallace Rose Hill High School computer lab. ^ Registration fee is $8 pay able at the first meeting. Visiting players in cluded Mesdames Ruth Jones. Martha Sitterson and Martha Swann. Between progressions the hostess served plum cake and ice cream floats. High score for members was made by Mrs. Louise W. Mitchell and by Mrs. Sitterson for the visitors. They were each presented a prize. Kontract Klub Mrs. Faison W. McGowen was hostess for the Kenans ville Kontract Klub in the home of Mrs. Stuart Hall on Thursday night. Between progressions those present enjoyed a tempting salad course with coffee or tea. High score was compiled by Martha Swann. Personals Dr. William Komegay and Dr. Michael Swartz of Am hurst. Mass. spent last week here with the Gordon Kor negays. Mitchell were additional guests. When scores were totaled, it was found that Mrs. J.J. Wells won high score prize for members and Mrs. Jones for the visitors.
