Calypso or Magnolia you have not yet experienced the new era in television viewing --cable. The towns of Wal i n u:il A ? ace. nose mil ?nu icaruc^ are receiving cable service while some parts of Kenans ville and Beulaville are con nected, Univision Cable As sistant Manager John Cochran said. "About 45-5d percent are taking cable of those who can presently receive services," John Cochran, Univision assistant manager said. "That is not what we had anticipated but it's still a good number." Univision Cable Television of Rich lands has completed installa tion of all underground lines within Duplin towns and are in the process of beginning phase two. rural service. According to Cochran, the installation of aerial lines is holding up service within the of Caicnn V Onanci/Sllo umiia vu rai3\'iii iwnwiu? mv and Magnolia. Within Duplin. Univision has two crews working with aerial cable installation. Faison as well as the town of Calypso will receive service from a transmitting station located near Calypso, which Cochran said is in the final stages of construction. The towns of Wallace. Teachey and Rose Hill re ceive signals from the 400 foot main tower located just off highway 50 in Chinqua pin. Beulaville is connected through a trunk line to the main tower and the towns of Faison and Calypso will be serviced from the mini hub station currently under con struction. Magnolia and Kenansville receive cable signals from thf? main fna*?r "The bulk of the construc tion within the towns is finished." Cochran said. "Wc are basically waiting for the completion of aerial lines installations, then cable service w ill be available in all the towns." Univision signed cable contracts with Duplin County and all the towns within except Warsaw in April of 1982. The proposed service date to Duplin towns was April of 1983. Currently, Cochran expects cable service to be available in all Duplin towns within the next month. The proposed rural completion date is December 31, 1983. "We had not anticipated the 25 days of rain this spring which stopped all our underground cable installation. And. the local utility companies had never worked with a cable company before but they have done all that was within their power to held us," Cochran said. Under the cable franchise contract signed by Univision and Duplin, a Ksic fee of $8.95 per month would pro vide customers 21 channels. Customers will be able to obtain three movie channels at added costs. Included channels covered in the basic fee are the three major networks, the Atlanta inde pendent network, two news channels, two sports chan nels. a children's channel, the University of North Caro lina public television station and a christian broadcasting station. The towns and county will receive three percent of tjw , gross return from each juris diction. The county franchise covers the unincorporated areas of the county. Cost of installation was estimated at $4 million when the contracts were signed. NCSU Dean's List The following students from this area earned Dean's List honors: Randy L. Cruse_, Albert son.
