A cast of familiar characters will appear in the children's show which is scheduled to run three consecutive Sundays beginning July 31. Karen Griffin, technical director for THE LIBERTY CART, will be directing this season's children's production. The 1983 production will be the second season of children's shows performed by the cast of THE LIBERTY CART. "The Uncle Remus tales are very old Southern folk tales." Karen said. "The t '-s have no established lor, but were first re sided in 1880 by Joel Chandler Harris in the book. "Animal Stories." The tales are an important part of oopro Citiithprn famili/'c hie. tory; I doubt any Southern youngster has grown up without the bedtime stories about animals of the Briar Patch." The cast will appear as I Br'er Tarrypin, Br'er Coon, Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, Br'er Bear. Miss Meadows, Aunt Mammy-Bammy, Sis Buzzard. Miss Goose and Doc Crow. Karen is in her second season with THE LIBERTY CART. Last season, along with her duties as assistant technical director for THE LIBERTY CART and scenic designer for GODSPELL, she acted in the 1982 children's show, GOLLIWHOPPERS. She comes from Crossnore I " ' ana is a recent graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor o( arts, in communication arts, concen trating in theatre arts. This fall she will enter the Master of Fine Arts Design and Technical Theatre program at UNC-G. In addition to weekly per I m formances of THE LIBERTY CART, the professional cast of the outdoor drama is performing GODSPELL. a religious rock musical which opened its second season July 20, playing Wednesday and Friday nights through August 19.
