Turner-Outlaw Speak Vows Debra Ann Outlaw of Albertson and George Macon Turner in, Lt. Junior Grade, United State Navy, of Pink Hill were united in marriage in the Pink Hill United Methodist Church, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. The Rev. Clarence Warren of Pink Hill performed the candlelight double-ring ceremony. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Dovelle Outlaw Sr. of Albert son. The groom is the son of Mrs. George M. Turner Jr. of Pink Hill and the late George M. Turner Jr. For her wedding, the bride wore a floor length gown of organza and re-embroidered chantilly lace over taffeta with a cathedral train. The fitted bodice featured a Queen Anne neckline outlin ed with chantilly lace and long organza full sleeves cuffed with lace at the wrist. Lace motifs etched with seed pearls lavishly appliqued the bodice and sleeves. The floor length skirt extended into a cathedral train. Garlands of chantilly lace accented the skirt in a pyramid edging the pleated organza hemline. The tiered cathedral train was accented with layers of pleated organza edged with scalloped re-embroidered chantilly lace from the waist to the hemline. The bride's fingertip veil of imported silk illusion was attached to a bridal hat with an upswept side accented with white silk flowers. The hat featured re-embroidered chantilly lace and seed pearls. The bride carried one long stem rose. Mrs. Jo Lin D. Metts of Bayboro, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Helen Turner of Wrightsville Beach, sister of the groom; Mrs. Carolyn B. Whitfield of Pink Hill, friend of the bride: Mrs. Becky A. Smith of Pink Hill, aunt of the bride; and Miss Jane Conyers of Franklinton. college friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Misses Ashlea Scott, Melanie Hatch and Erica Smith of Pink Hill, all cousins of the bride. , The groom chose his brother, Leslie Turner of Pink Hill, to serve as his best man. Ushers were Dovelle Outlaw Jr. of Albertson, brother of the bride; Bill Turner of Pink Hill, cousin of the groom; Jimmy Smith of Deep Run, friend of the groom; Wesley Taylor of Raleigh, friend of the groom; and Jeff Cannon of Washington, college friend of the groom. Dovelle Outlaw in of Albertson, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Tom Yates, organist Miss Mary Ann Kornegay played the flute while Miss Suzanne Uzzell was trumpeter. Wes Yates was trom bonis! Directing the wedding was Mrs. Donald Grady with Miss Iris Dunlap of Carthage, friend of the bride, presiding at the register. Mrs. Faye T. Thompson of Sneads Ferry, friend of the bride, distributed the wedding programs. The bride was graduated from East Duplin High School. She will receive her BA degree in intermediate education in December from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. The groom was graduated from South Lenoir High School. He received his BS degree in industrial technology from East Carolina University. He was commissioned in the United States Navy in January 1981. He is presently serving on the USS America stationed in Norfolk, Va. After a wedding trip to Hilton Head, S.C., the couple will be at home in Virginia Beach, Va. A reception was held after the wedding on the lawn at the bride's home, hosted by the bride's parents. On the day of the wedding, the wedding party enjoyed a luncheon at the Graham House Inn, Kenansville. The lun cheon was given by Mrs. John C. Smith Sr.; Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Outlaw; Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Scott Jr.; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hatch; Miss Grade Smith; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Turner; Joe Spence; Mrs. Shelby Smith; and Mr. and Mrs. Dovelle Outlaw Jr. A pig pickin' was held after the rehearsal at the home of the groom, given by the groom and his family. After the pig pickin', the wedding party and close friends enjoyed a rehearsal party given at the Long Meadow Country Club, Pink Hill. The party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Billy Brewer; Mr. and Mrs. Ethro Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Turner; Mr. and Mrs.,T.J. Turner; Mr. and Mrs Lynwood Turner; Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Turner; Mr. and Mrs. James Davis; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Curtis Turner; Mrs. James Miles; Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Stroud; Mrs. Jasper Tyndall; Mrs. C.C. Jones; Mrs. Christine Williams; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Watson Jr.; Mrs. Edith Wiley; Mrs. J.M. Jones; and Mrs. Helen Turner. On Saturday, July 16, a bridesmaids luncheon was held at the home of the bride, given by Mrs. Dovelle Outlaw Sr., mother of the bride; Mrs. Donald Grady; and Mrs. Shelby Smith. On Sunday, July 3, the couple was honored with an ice cream party on the lawn at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T-un Yates. The party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Yates and Mr. and Mrs. Luther Ledford. On Friday, July 1, the couple and close friends enjoyed an Hawaiian holiday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Whitfield. Hosts for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Whitfield; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turner; Mr. and Mrs. John Smith Jr.; Mr. and Mrs. Andy Metts; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Houston; and Jimmy Smith. On Saturday, June 18, the bride was honored with aCoke party at the home of Mrs. Leighton Turner, given by the United Methodist Women of the Pink Hill United Methodist Church. On Friday, June 17, the couple was honored with a miscellaneous shower at the Smith's Community Building, given by Mrs. Russell Murphy, Mrs. L.F. Jones, Mrs. Gary Thompson, Mrs. Houston Howard and Mrs. Donald Grady. On Thursday, March 17, the bride was given a surprise kitchen shower at the home of Miss Iris Dunlap in Wilm ington. Hostesses were Miss Iris Dunlap and Miss Sherry Hall. College friends of the bride attended. Kenansville News Eastern Star Gloria Browir, worthy matron, and Gene Brown, worthy patron, were in their respective stations Tuesday night when the Kenan^ville Chapter #215 held its regular bi-monthly meeting. After the ritualistic opening and business session, the worthy matron honored the station of Adah, the first Star point, that being her chosen station for this year. Sally B. Tyndall is the present Adah. She is also a past matron of the chapter. Members are reminded that the next stated meeting will be at 8 p.m. on August 4th, at which time will be official (visit of the District Deputies' of the 8th District of the Grand Chapter of North Carolina. Bridge Hostess Bonnie McPhaul was hostess for The Bridgettes on Thursday. After several pro gressions, Edna Earl Brinson was declared winner of the high score prize. Barbara McKay was second and Glenora Stepp took home the traveling prize. For refresh ments, the hostess, assisted by Sheila McKay, served blueberry cheese cake and iced drinks. Birth Announced The Reverend and Mrs. James H. Harris Jr. of Kenansville, formerly of Farmville, announce the birth of their daughter, Alexandra Whittelsey, on Julv 30, 1983, in Lenoir Memorial Hospital at Win ston- Mrs. Harris is the former Brenda Truett of Newberry, S.C. Mr. Harris is pastor of the Kenansville United Parish, composed of four churches in this area ? Kenansville, Sarecta, Wes ley and Woodland. Senior Citizens Entertained The Retirement Village Rhythm Makers of Mount Olive presented a program at the Kenansville Senior Citizens luncheon site last Wednesday. After several solos, band numbers and duets, they remained for lunch. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Kaplan and two children of Huntington, W.V., spent several days here last wees with the Wiley T. Booths. Mrs. Amos Brinson spent July 24-28 in Washington, D.C. attending the Inter national Conference of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority.
