Beck-Dunn United Joyce Elaine Dunn of Warsaw and John Jacob Theodore Beck Jr. of Kenansville were united in marriage at 8 p. m. Friday, Aug. 12, in the First Original Free Will Baptist Church in Warsaw. The Rev. Foy Futrelle of Goldsboro of ficiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Jackson Dunn of War saw. The groom is the son of Mrs. John J. Beck of Seneca Falls, N.Y. and the late Mr. Beck. The bride wore a white formal length gown of white organza and chantilly lace with an empire waistline and lace covered bodice with scalloped see-through neckline (of French net embossed with schiffli floral lace design. The gown featured a high ring collar of chantilly lace and full sheer bishop sleeves with wide chantilly lace cuffs. A full A-line skirt bordered with chantilly lace and organza ruffles flowed into a chapel length train. A finger tip veil was attached to a Juliet capulet. The bride carried a silk bouquet of pink roses and carna tions. Mrs. Pam English of Goldsboro was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Pam Strickland of Green ville; Mrs. Barbara Bartels of Geneva, N.Y.; and Miss Becky Dunn of Warsaw was the junior bridesmaid. The groom chose Harold Nordblom of Honeybrook, Pa. to serve as best man. Ushers were Jeffrey Keith Kennedy of Mount Olive; Willie Jackson Dunn Jr. of Warsaw; and Jdichael Kennedy of Mount Olive. Nuptial music was presented by John W. Boyette Jr. of Warsaw, organist, and Robert Phelps ot Kenansville, vocalist. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Catherine Lee of Kenansville and Miss Lisa lyunn of Warsaw presided at 'the register. The bride is a 1979 graduate of East Carolina University and is a master's degree candidate in history. She is employed at Caswell-Neuse State Historic Site as assis tant manager. The groom has an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and a master's degree from UNC-CH, and is also a Ph.D candidate in history at UNC CH. He is the history and political science instructor at James Sprunt Technical College in Kenansville. Mrs. Irma Dunn, sister-in-law of the bride, Served cake. Mrs Tonda Watson served punch. , On July 23, a shower was given at the home of Mrs. Alan Brown in Warsaw given by Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Pam English, Mrs. Pam Strickland and Mrs. Tonda Watson. On July 24, a shower was held at the home of Mrs. Willie J. Dunn Jr., sister-in-law of the bride given by Mrs. Dunn and Mrs. Anne Kennedy, sister of the bride. On Aug. 11, a rehearsal party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robin Watson of Kenansville by Mrs. Mildred Beck, mother of the groom. On Aug. 12, a bridesmaids luncheon was given by Mrs. Anne Kennedy, sister of the bride, at her home in Mount Olive. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED - Mr. and Mrs. Herbert J. Hilsinger of Grifton, Route 2, announce the engagement and plans for the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mary Catherine, to Airman John W. Byrd, son of Marlene S. Hill of Pink Hill and Billy McCoy Byrd of Beulaville. A September 10 wedding is planned at the Bible Missionary Church in Kinston. Jackson And Stallings Unite Wendy Joy Stallings of Deep Run and D^vid Troy Jackson of Kinston were united in marriage at eight o'clock in the evening on Saturday. July 16 at Chris tian Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Pink Hill. The Rev. Ed Miles officiated at the double-ring candlelight ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her family and escorted to the altar by her father, Willie A. Stallings of Bath. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hill of Deep Run. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen J. Jackson Jr. of LaGrange. The bride wore a formal white Chantilly lace gown fashioned with a Queen Anne neckline outlined with scal loped lace and etched with pearls and iridescents. The full, lace bishop sleeves with satin ribbon trim closed with deep lace cuffs. The softly gathered cascading tiered lace skirt flowed into an attached chapel train. Her rolled-edge fingertip veil of silk illusion was attached to a lace Camelot etched with pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses high lighted with lavender babies' -breath and centered with an orchid. Flora Howard, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Carl MaHaffey and Wendy Hill were bridesmaids. The groom chose his father to serve as best man. Ushers were Walter Jackson of La Grange, Dennis Macmasters of Kinston, Roddy Howard of Pink Hill and Billy Stalli.-gs of Deep Run. Nuptial music was pre sented by Nancy Stroud. The bride is a 1981 gradu ate of South Lenoir High School and has attended Mount Olive Colleee. She is presently enrolled at Lenoir Community College and is employed at Vernon Park Mall Pizza Villa. The groom is a 1979 grad uate of R.B. Stall High School in Charleston, S.C. He is presently employed at Beuhler Products in Kinston. Reception A reception was jyven by the bride's family> in the church fellowship hall. Carolyn Brown poured punch and Betsy Jones cut the cake. An arrangement of mixed summer flowers compli mented the table. Showers A miscellaneous shower was held on June 10 at the Christian Chapel Free Will Baptist Church jjiven by the families of the bride and groom. A floating miscellaneous shower was given on June 25 at the home of Betsy Jones in Kinston with co-hostesses Ava Dean' Aldridge and Dee Dee Tyndall. A wedding breakfast was hosted by Pat Howard and Gayle Smith and was held at the Family Restaurant in Pink Hill on July 16. Kencinsville News Presbyterian Women ( Circle 01 of the Women of t Grove Presbyterian Church t met Aug. 15 for a dutch i lunch at The Country Girl. There were five members and three visitors present. Members were Louise i Boney, Annie C. Rhodes, i Bertha Hollingsworth, Celia I Stroud and Inez Chestnutt. i Visitors included the Rever- i ends Ann and D^vid Dickey and Viola W. Quinn. Circle 02 met Monday night with Mrs. Martha P. Sitterson. Mrs. Doris N. Merritt presided and made the opening prayer. The Bible study was moderated by Mrs. J.J. Wells and the closing prayer made by the Rev. Djtvid Dickey. The hos tess assisted by Mrs. Frances Stephens, served apple pudding to the 11 present. United Methodist Women The afternoon circle of the Kenansville United Methodist Women met last week on Monday afternoon with Mrs. W.M. Ingram. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Viola W. Quinn, who also made the opening prayer. The program was a continuation of the study of Isaiah and in charge of Mrs. Ingram. The closing prayer was made by Mrs. Alton Newton, after which the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Walter Smith, served punch and cookies to the eight present. The evening circle met with Mrs. Dixon Hall. She made the opening prayer and presented the program on "Coping when Bad Things Happen." The business ses sion was presided over bv Mrs. Ed Rector. At the close >f the meeting, a social hour vas enjoyed while the hos ess served orange sherbet ind cookies. Baptist Circles The Cora Stokes Circle did not meet this month as members were on?vacation, but the Ella Cooper circle met with 12 present for a covered dish supper at Bobbie Heath's. After the delicious meal, the meeting was presided over by Edna E. Brinson. The opening prayer and program were presented by Joyce Bell on "The Big A Club-Work m the Multi-Family Housing." Town & Country Club Mrs. Woodrow Brinson was hostess for the Town & Country Bridge Club Tues day night. Additonal guests included Mesdames Martha Sitterson. Carolyn Hall, Louise W. Mitchell and Sallie Ingram. The club high score prize was won bv Mrs. Sallv B. Tyndall and th^visitors by Mrs. Stuart Hall. The travel ing prize was carried home by Mrs. Sitterson. For re freshments. Mrs. Brinson served blueberry delight, salted nuts and coffee. She was assisted by Mrs. Mit chell. K on tract Klub Mrs. W.M. Ingram was hostess for the Kenan^ville Kontract Klub Thursday night. Mrs. Louise W. Mit chell substituted for the only absent members. Between progressions, the hostess served pineapple cake and lime punch. She was assisted by Mrs. Stuart Hall. High scorer for the evening was Mrs. E.S. McGowan. A gift was also presented to Mrs. 1 Mitchell. Homemakere Club The South Kenan^ville Homemakers Extension Club observed family night on Friday. Ten members with five.visitors went to the Rose Hill Restaurant for a dutch supper. Birth Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Grady of Kenan?ville an nounce the birth of their daughter, Kay Leigh, on July 15th. The maternal grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Jones of Warsaw and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Grady of Kenan?ville.
