Tar Heel Fine Arts Society Has Kick-Off Dinner On Monday, August 29, the Tar Heel Fine Arts Society board of directors and this year's volunteer workers enjoyed a dinner and program at The County Squire near Kenan^ville. Dr. Gene E. Ballard, president, welcomed the group and introduced special guests. He also had each board member introduce their workers for this year. After dinner, Ervin Graham, pharmacist and owner of Graham Drug Co. in Wallace, and a very strong supporter of the arts, sang "Without A Song" and "1 Left My Heart In San Fran cisco." Later he sang "Old Man River." He was ac companied by Mrs. L.E. .Brown Jr., director of ad missions and records at ?James Sprunt Technical Col Jage. Mrs. Max Offerman .presented highlights of the four programs to be pre sented this year. They are: The New York Banjo En semble, Nov. 8; Hallelujah Hit Parade starring Mac Frampton and Jack and Sally Jenkins, Jan. 10; The Seren dipity Singers, March 16; and The Glenn Miller Or chestra, April 12. In addi tion, a pre-season concert will be open to the general public on Thursday. Sew. 22 at 8 p.m. A joint concert will be presented by Charlie Al bertson and the Swing masters and John Goodnow, visiting artist at James Sprunt Technical College. All programs will be presented in Kenan Memorial Audito rium in Kenan^ville and will begin at 8 p.m. Mrs. Jean Sanderson ex plained the procedures to follow in ticket sales. After promotion packages were distributed, area chairmen and their workers planned their sales programs. Tickets will be available from area chairmen and workers through Sept. 21 and thereafter at the door pre ceding each concert perfor mance. Tickets are S12.50 for adults and SS for students.
