I Duplin Fair Features Fantasy By Ruth Wall* No, It l?n't a fairy, It's Marie Creech, and NO, It wasn't a magic wand she waved, but a plain ole paint brusfi. And with cooperation from many talented and caring people, Merle and her Co-workers nave transformed the upper floor of the old elementary school In Kenansvllle Into a fantasy land for children of all ages to enjoy at the second annual Duplin Agribusiness Fair, Oct. 3 thru 8. You have to see to believe the works of Mark Patrus' art students. Brenda, Chris, Michael and Malcolm. Mark Is the art instructor at James Sprunt Technical College. Omega Enterprises built "flats" for the art work. J.P. Stevens donated fabric to cover the flats. Merle and these talented students from JSTC have brought charac ters to life to create a Maze. Wandering thru this, one will find many points of interest ? a huge tub of bubble soap ? and who can resist blow ing bubbles? Another point of Interest that no one will want to miss Is paint, paint brushes and a blank wall just crying to be painted. Some where along this route you may possibly find a potter's wheel, and who can guess what might be beyond the next corner I This magical area will be open each day of the fair from 5 to 7:30 p.m. only. This is a must for every fair goer to see. Whether you are three or 30, seven or 70, you don't want to miss this fantastic display. School children in Duplin, Sampson and Pender counties will be Issued free passes to the fair. Passes will be administered I thru the schools. And while you are brow sing don't miss the world of I quilts. Eveline Dall and her I sister, Ruby Blackmore, are | coordinating a quilt exhlbl , tion that is most outstanding. . They will quilt ? those ' unbelievably tiny stitches ? ' using colonial-type quilting I frames. i Eveline is recognized as an I authority on the art of quilt , ing. She Is a former In structor at James Sprunt and 1 now operates a business in her home. She collects quilt patterns and Is really a storehouse of quilt informa tion. Assisting Eveline with quilting are: Carol Pickett, Artilla Oswald, Merle Curry, Dorothy Hatcher, Peggy Olson, Mattie Maready, Margie Maready, Myrtle Henderson, Bessie Raynor, ^ Beatle Raynor, Verllne Sholar, Glendoia Lanier, Ar lene Williams, Estelte Lanier and Epsy Maready. Among the 50 or so quilts exhibited will be a "summer coverlet," whlte-on-whlte, that is more than 100 years old. Pillows and many other works of art will be displayed for your viewing pleasure. All this and much, mucn more await you at the second annual Uupnn Agribusiness Fair. Albertson Man Killed In Accident An Albertson man was killed early Wednesday when his car ran off S.R. 1539 about 16'/i miles north of Kenan$ville, according to a report b'y Trooper J.I. Ed wards of the State Highway Patrol. James Earl Outlaw, 26, of Route 1, Albertson, failed to stop for an intersection, ran off the right side of the road and overturned around 1:29 a.m., Edwards' report said. No one else was injured. Zion Children's Church held their first graduating service with 10 being promoted to the adult church. The speaker was Rev. Perry Jones. Diplomas were handed out by the pastor, Rev. Sadie Ball. Faye Taylor and Lou Murphy accompanied the children in song and music.
