'Johnson-Strickland Exchange Vows Donna Lynn Strickland and Joseph Ray Johnson were . married Sunday, October 2, I at three o'clock in the after noon at the Warsaw United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jimmy Creech offi ciated the doi'l)le-ring cere mony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Durwood Strickland* of War saw. She is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilbert Strickland of Erwin. P The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Bowden Johnson of Warsaw. A program of traditional wedding music was pre sented by Jim Aycock of Goldsboro. organist. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown with a chapel train of chiffon and imported Alencon lace over ^ taffeta. The fitted lace torso bodice featured a V-neckline and cap sleeves. Scalloped lace outlined the neckline. Seed pearls adorned the bodice. The layered chiffon over taffeta skirt extended into-a chapel train. The bride chose a mantilla of bridal illusion adorned with iace mOtifs flowing from an Alen con.lace caplet etched with ^seed pearls for her head P piece. She carried a cascade biAiquet of white stephanotis and gypsophila with English ivy-! Miss Delia Strickland served her sister as maid of honor. She carried a bouquet of- silk red and lavender aivemones with, variegated red and white morning glories and English ivy. She wore a red taffeta dress ^designed with a V-neck in fritni and back with a collar overlay and cummerbund. Thie other bridesmaids were Pa)ria Atkins of Raleigh. Mary Best Blanton and Paula Hiiyett of Wilmington. Ciddie Carver of Cary and Monena Buck of Kinston. They wore gowns matching that of the maid of honor and carried similar bouquets. P The bridegroom chose J .C. Page of Warsaw as his best main. Ray wore a two-tone gray tuxedo with. vest, white pleated shirt and bow tie and a red rose boutonniere. Their attire matched "that of the groom. The mother of the bride wore a gown of teal preen organza with satin rii^on trim, rounded neck. 1 'tig sleeves and cummerbund, and she carried a cvmbidium orchid-pinned purse. The bride is a graduate of James Kenan High School ^and attended the University Pof North Carolina at Wil ming.on. She has been em ployed by Duplin Publishing Company in KeoanQville for the past several years. The groom is a graduate of James Kenan High School and North Carolina State University. He is employed by Southeastern Electronics in Raleigh. The couple will be living at 3904 Summerwood Court, Raleigh. NC 27612 after their wedding trip to Atlantic City N.J. and New York City They were flown from Duplin County airport to Raleigh Durham Airport courtesy of Charles and Judy Strickland and Clinton Datsun. Reception Following the ceremony, a reception honoring the bridal couple was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Horace T. Ray Jr. in Warsaw. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. ThShtas Rabon. Mrs. Mack Jones served the three tiered .cake decorated in white and green. Punch was served inside by Sandra Ray and Wylene Hewitt and outside by Marian Fisher and Beth Ray. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Boyette said the goodbyes. Kenansville News United Methodist Women The September meeting of the Kenansville United Methodist Women was held Monday evening in the fellowship hall fo the church. Mrs. Ed Rector, president, presided and had the open ing devotional, which was linked with the program, it being their annual pledge service. After a business session, when plans for the bazaar to be held on Oct. 28 and other projects were dis cussed, Mrs. H.D. Taylor closed the meeting with prayer. Eastern Star Joyce Williams served as worthy matron and Kermit Williams as worthy patron due to the absence of the regular officers when Kenansville Chapter #215, Order of the Eastern Star, met Tuesday night. After the ritualistic opening, plans for the district schools and other important events were dis cussed during the business meeting. Celia Stroud demonstrated proper ways of opening and closing the Bible. Members were re minded that the next stated meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. as will all of the winter meetings. Ingram welcomed the 30 senior citizens and called on her pastor, tht Reverend James Harris for the devo tional. His topic for medi tation was "God Is Our Strength" followed by prayer. Mrs. Thelma Taylor then held an impressive memorial service for two recently de ceased member, Carolyn Outlaw and Margaret Dail.
