ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT Mr. and Mrs. S. Ward Rouse of Route 2. Rose Hill, announce the engagement . and forthcoming marriage of their daughter. Alison, to Jay Sutton of Raleigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy V. Sutton of Clinton. An October 28 wedding is planned for seven o'clock at Dobson Chapel Baptist Church. Route 1, Magnolia. No local invitations are being mailed but everyone is invited. TRASH PICTURE - It's ugly, it's unhealthy, and it's illegal. The Duplin County Board of Commissioners h^ve said "Enough is enough." Trash containers are to be filled, trash is not to be thrown on the ground, and large appliances'such as refrigerators are not to be placed in these trash containers.". .And, anyone caught doing so will " be fined in Duplin courts. The commissioners hj)ve instructed the sanitation workers to place notices on the green boxes (trash containers) telling of their instructions, and the Duplin County Sheriff and his deputies are to "keep an eye" on the containers about the county and strictly enforce the ordinance. Items too large for the containers are to be hauled to the county landfill near Rose Hill. There is no charge for using the landfill. Lenoir Schools And School Lunch Week The Lenoir County Schools will be joining those across the nation in cele brating National School Lunch Week this week. "School Lunch: America's No. 1 Engergy Source" is the program theme that will be observed. Special emphasis for NSLW 1983 is "Programmed for Power." Now more than ever, Americans are con cerned about good nutrition and physical fitness. One way to be healthy is to develop healthy habits early in life since these habits will stay with children all of their lives. A school lunch is an excellent example of good nutrition. This year is the 21st year that the second week in October has been proclaimed at NSLW. When the cele bration was first observed in 1962, we, as a nation, were exuberant because astronaut John Glenn completed three orbits around the earth. To day we have seen so many advances that fvent he space shuttle t is becoming a familiar occurrence. Many things change in 21 years and the school' lunch program has changed also. Many schools offer multiple choice menus and food ser vice programs using salad souo bars, a la carte I lines, buffet lines, and scramble systems are not uncommon. Students now have input in the lunch program through Youth Ad visory Councils and many are actively iuvolved in nutrition education programs. What is in store for to morrow ? We do not know but this years theme gives us a hint. The computer age has arrived. Power is what the school can provide and we in North Carolina are going to take a look at "Power Then.. Power Now" when two special menus are featured. .DUPLIN TIMES-PROGRESS ? SENTINEL Published Weekly by DUPLIN PUBLISHING CO., INC Ike Riddlck, Publisher P.O.
