Women's Fall Fashions The look of casual sophis tication will ba an important one when It comes to women's fashions this fall. The prevailing style Is a V-shaped silhouette coupled with versatile fabrics and deep, vibrant colors. Among those popular fab rics are rich novelty satins and taffetas, nubby tweeds, brushed cottons and novelty knits. And those colors! They are taking a cue from nature, so you will see deep shades of rust, teal, purple and green, plus midtone browns. Or if you prefer vibrant colors, you can choose from mustard, fuchsia, turquoise and blue tones Black and white con tinue to be popular. The V-shaped silhouette mentioned flows from wide and loose on top to slim below the waist. Dolman sleeves, cropped tops and slim cropped pants are para mount to the shape Generally pants are softly tailored and slim, ranging in length from just above the ankle to mid-calf. And those pants are designed to show ?" kncinru onH ui i icaiuicu nugici 7 bku ankle boots. Sweater dressing con tinues to be popular. The newest sweaters are long or short, often in novelty knits. Features include broadened shoulderlines, high or low necklines, and the length of the sweater ranges from waist high to thigh low When it comes to nine-to five wear, short-jacketed suits will be favored. And jumpers have been revived in softly fitted styles. So. when you go shopping for your cold-weather ward robe, you should find fabu lous fabrics, exciting colors, tailored pants, multi-length sweaters, softly-fitted jumpers and short-jacketed suits. Preventing White Clothes from Turning Gray If some of your white clothes are beginning to look a bit gray around the edges, keep this in mind. Graying may be caused by overload ing the washer, insufficient hot water, insufficient deter gent, improper soaking nr failure to use bleach. Let's think about each one. starting with overloading the washer. When the washer is too full some articles may not receiver proper flexing action. The solution is to follow the loading pro cedures outlined in the washer's operating instruc tions. and if need be, to reduce the size of the laundry load. Also, put articles of varying sizes together in each load. Next, insufficient hot water. If the water temper ature is too low, the de tergent may not work effi ciently. So set the water heater temperature control high enough so that the water is 140 degrees Fahren heit at the faucet. As mentioned, another leading cause of graying is too little detergent. Consult peio^ctye uiitxiiuns anu use the proper amounts. Heavier ? han average soil, hard water nd large loads may call of tra detergent. Improper soaking. If a fabric is soaked without de tergent, or too little deter gent Is used, released soli may become redeposited on the fabric. So, always use the proper amount of detergent in the soak water and make sure detergent is thoroughly dissolved. The final cause of graying is failure to use a bleach. Therefore, to help whiten and brighten bleachable fab rics. occasionally use a chlo rine bleach in the wash water.
