Rabies Report For The State I
In the third quarter report
from Dr. J.I. Freeman, state
veterinarian of Raleigh,
there were ten animals con
firmed as having rabies in
North Carolina. AH of the
cases were in bats. Five
cases were from Gaston
County and one case each
from Beaufort, Cumberland,
Columbus, Wilson and New
Hanover counties.
In Duplin County, the dog
warden's report shows 438
animals impounded and 200
animals vaccinated by the
local veterinarians.
Beginning Jan. 1, a new
revised rabies law will be
come effective in North
Carolina. This new law,
among other changes, will
require that cats be vacci
nated against rabies as well
as dogs. There will be more
information concerning the
new law later.
King Attends H&R
Block Meeting
Taxes were the topic of a
recent meeting attended by
Larry King, operator of the
H&R Block office in Warsaw.
The meeting was held in
Raleigh and was conducted
by the company's senior
management person respon
sible for Warsaw.
Mack Fuller, with the N.C.
Department of Revenue,
spent two hours discussing
changes in state tax laws.
Participants also discussed
federal tax law changes and
management methods and
were introduced to new
projects scheduled by the
company for the upcoming
tax season.
"The meeting allows H&R
Block personnel from
throughout North Carolina to
meet and exchange ideas,"
King said. "We receive the
latest, most up-to-date infor
mation on taxes and business
management skills that the
company has to offer. It is an
opportunity to learn more so
we can serve our clients
better."
