?Williams-Murphy Wedding Pamela Kaye Murphy of Rose Hill and Ronald Earl Williams of Magnolia were united in marriage on November 12 at three o'clock in the afternoon at Concord Baptist Church of Magnolia. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Eddie Wetherington. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Murphy of Magnolia. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Williams, also of Magnolia. Music for the wedding was presented by pianist Ava Cavenaugh and vocalist Amelia Williams, who sang "You Light Up My Life." and "The Wedding Prayer." The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. For her wedding she chose a formal gown of white silk ened organza over silk Vene tian lace. Pearl buttons were featured. The bride's man tilla wa* edged with silk lace and scattered appliques of lace-adorned flowers. She carried a bouquet of red roses, miniature carnations, and daisies accented with while satin ribbon streamers. The couple spoke their vows before the church altar which was centered bv a bouquet of white mums ac cented with lavender carna tions and gold candelabras. The setting was completed by a white kneeling prayer bench. Reserved scats were marked with white bows. Kathy King, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Betty Williams and Jane Williams, sisters of the groom. They wore floor length gowns of lavender knit with matching lace jackets and carried nosegays of lavender mums and car nations. Each attendant ac cented her hair with babies' breat h. Mr. Williams served as his son's best man. Ushers were Jimmy Williams, cousin of the groom, and Jeffery Grady. For her daughter's wed ding. Mrs. Murphy chose a street-length dress of lavender crepe. The mother of the groom chose a street length dress of lavender knit. Both mothers wore corsages of white carnations. Attending the register was Diane Murphy, sister of the bride. She wore a floor length gown similar to those of the bridesmaids and wore a white carnation corsage. The wedding was directed by Lynn Easoti f Warsaw. The bride and groom are both graduates of James Kenan High School. The couple will reside in Mag nolia. Reception Folio wing the wedding ceremony, the wedding party and parents greeted guests as they entered the fellow ship hall of the church. After the bridal couple cut the cake it was served by the groom's aunt. Eunice Taylor. Punch was served by Catherine Smith, aunt of the bride. Shower The couple was honored with a miscellaneous shower at the Magnolia Community Building. Friends and rela tives were invited. They received many lovely and useful gifts. Beulaville News Truman Miller accom panied his mother, Mrs. Otis Miller, to Greenville Wednesday for her eye check-up. Gerald Davis of Kinston v;sited Mrs. Leon Davis Fri day. Hazel Campbell accom panied James Emery Camp bell of Magnolia to Charlotte Friday to spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Kennedy and children. Rev. and Mrs. Garland Foushee were in Sanford to visit their children Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Maready and son attended the Singing Ambassadors performance in New Bern Friday. Linda Lee and Janet Lanier and children shopped in Kinston Saturday. Rev. and Mrs. Garland Foushee visited Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Thomas and Regina at Duke Hospital in Durham Saturday. Regina was to undergo surgery. J.D. Cottle honored his son. niece and granddaugh ter with a barbecue dinner Nov. 12. There were ap proximately 50 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Bostic and Mr. and Mrs. Perry Williams of Beulaville. and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Brown of Yaupon Beach spent Saturday with relatives in Belhaven. The children of Mrs. Ottis Miller honored her with a birthday dinner Nov. lb. Gordon Kennedy is a pa tient in Lenoir Memorial in Kinston. Sharon Hunter, who has been in Duke Hospital in Durham for several weeks, was home with her parents during the weekend. They are scheduled to return to Duke this week. Kegina Thomas was sche duled for surgery in Duke Hospital this past Saturday. A special Bilbro Bostic Day was held at the Baptist Church. Following the morning worship service, a dinner was hetd in the fellowship hall. Relatives were in attendance from Kinston. Warsaw, Kenans ville. Magnolia, Virginia, Youpon Beach. Hallsville. Sandy Plain, Cedar Fork. Fountaintown and local churches. Birth Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Paul Milton Andrews of Ayden announce the birth of their son, Paul Milton Jr., on Wednesday, November 9, 1983. in Pitt Memorial Hospital in Green ville. Mrs. Andrews is the former Alia Kirbye Whaley, daughter of Mrs. Kirby Whaley of Beulaville. Mr. and Mrs. "Chick" Andrews of Wilson are the paternal grandparents. Sandy Plain Senior Citizens The senior citizens of the Sandy Plain community will have their Christmas dinner and program Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at Ronald Turner Restaurant in Pink Hill, across from the Western Auto Company. This is the annual Christmas dinner, and not the regular monthly meeting. The dinner is by compliments of the Senior Citizen group. Each member is asked to bring a gift, with the ladies asked to bring a gift for a lady and the men asked to bring one appropriate for a man. Mrs. Ronsom McAbee will be in charge of the Christmas pro gram. All senior citizens of the area are invited to at tend. On Nov. 12 the group met with 49 in attendance. Rev. McAbee returned thanks be fore the meal. Following the dinner, Mrs. Bostic made a few announcements. Rev. and Mrs. Edward Neal and two sons furnished the pro gram for the evening. The December meeting will be held Dec. 10 with Lawrence Houston and Ella Moss Houston giving the program. Cabin Missionary Baptist Church Dedication services for the new building will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. at the Cabin Missionary Baptist Church. Refreshments will be served after services in the fellowship hall and everyone is invited, accord ing to the pastor. Rev. L.R. Kennedy. Personals Regina Thomas returned home Thursday from Duke Hospital Durham to re cuperate from surgery. Vera Futrell returned home from Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston. Gordon Kennedy is a pa tient in Lenoir Memorial. Millard Decker is a patient in Duke Hospital in Durham and has undergone surgery there. Haywood Kennedy is a patient in Veterans Hospital in Durham. Sandy Plain Senior Citizens The Sandy Plain Senior Citizens Christmas dinner and party are to be held Friday night. Dec. 2. at 6 o clock at the Ronald Turner Restaurant in Pink Hill. Ladies are to bring a gift suitable for a lady and men bring one for a man for the exchange of gifts. Mrs. Edna McAbee will be in charge of the program. Pink Hill, celebrated their 50th wed ding anniversary on November 20 with their family and friends at the Holiday Inn in Raleigh. They were married November 17. 1933. in Hampton. Va. The James Family Simpson At Friends Of The Library Meeting He's a songwriter and a novelist. Two of the musicals for which he wrote songs ? "Diamond Studs" and "Hot , Grog" ? were successful on off-Broadway. His new novel. "Hea" of the Coun try " is a'. country musk < and the musicians who play it. He's Bland Simpson, and he was the euest sneaker and entertainer at the annual meeting of the Friends of the Dorothy Wightman Library. He played some of his songs and read selections from his writings. Merle Creech, director of the Duplin County Arts. Council, a co-sponsor of his appearance, describes his performance as "lively." The Friends of the Library meeting was held at the Dorothy Wightman Library in Kenansville on Nov. 29. The Friends of the Library is an organization which promotes the use of the libraiv and promotes funds for it. The Friends of the Library has a meeting each fall to install new officers and to kick off a membership drive. Membership fees are SI for adults and $.50 for children.
