A visit to Poland is one of the offerings of the FF of North Carolina. A Friendship Force is a national organization initiated by Pres. Carter in 1978 to promote peace and under standing between nations. State chairman is Carolyn Hunt, wife of the governor. A FF Mission is an adventure in human relationships and inter national goodwill. Form the outset, one should know that this is not a tourist program. The primary focus of each ambassador must be that of friendship ? meeting the people of Poland and entering into their everyday lives. Visiting interesting places, eating European breads and walking through history are benefits of a Friendship Force trip, but commitment to the program is essential. The common goal will be the extension of friendship in five cities but the focus will be in Poland. Persons who have participated in activities of the Freindship Force's goals are those of promoting mutual understanding between people . of different countries and cultures. Those who are new to the FF will have ample opportunity to learn ' these goals. All ambassadors will be required to attend a workshop in the spring prior to the trip. The first mission to Poland is planned for May , 14-24. The price is approximately SI,395 from New York. This covers all travel expenses from New York May^ 14. It also covers hotels, city tours, w ground transportation and most meals. The scheduled return to New York is May 27. Stops will be in Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Vienna and Munich with home-hosted dinners in two Polish cities an(J Berlin. For information, contact Merle Creech at the Duplin County Arts Council, 296-1922.
