Duplin Retirement Village Workmen are busy completing the Duplin Retirement Village buildings near Warsaw. Officials hope the Village can be open in early spring. Already advertisements are appearing in local newspapers as the company is seeking employees. (Check this week's Duplin Times Want Ads.) ' Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certification Class ? * A training course for Grades I and i II wastewater treatment plant opera- > tors began Jan. 30 in the Hall 1 Building on the James Sprunt Tech ^ nical College campus. I 9 This program is sponsored jointly by the N.C. Division of Environ mental Management, JSTC, and the ri.C. Water Pollution Control Asso ciation. The course consists of practical classroom and Field training in the proper operation and maintenance of , wastewater plants. Classes are held 1 on Monday nights from 6-10 p.m. I except the last month of the classes i in which the class will meet both | ? Monday and Wednesday nights. The r ; primare purpose of the course will be ?to upgrade the skills and knowledge I of the operators so that they will be * able to get the greatest efficiency I from the wastewater treatment j plants and discharge a minimum of' I .pollution into the streams of the state. This training will also assist the operators in qualifying for a certification as now required by the law. The course fees are itemized as follows: manual of instruction, "Operation of Wastewater Treat ment Plants, A field Study Training Program." Vol. 1 - $20; Vol. II - S25; other supplies and materials - $15 for a total of books and supplies - $60. There is also a registration fee of $10. If you already have the manuals, the cost is only $15 for materials and $10 for registration. The registration fee of $10 should be made payable to JSTC and the remainder of $60 or $15 goes to the NC Water Pollution Control Association. Both of these fees are due at the first - class meeting.
