This is a slight decrease from the 763 fall quarter enrollment but is the second largest winter enrollment since 1979. Several programs reflect an in crease compared to last winter, reports Brown. The business ad ministration program increased 30 percent, criminal justice 40 percent, medical office assisting SO percent and commercial art 63 percent. One classification that shows an increase is that of "special stu dent.", one who is nor pursuing a degree but is enrolled in one or more courses. Many are taking one of the new computer courses, a course for recertification, or a course for self improvement or general interest. "Many may not realize that it is not necessary to be pursuing a degree to enroll in a curriculum course," says Brown. "But it is possible to take one course, paying a per-crcdit-hour fee and register as I a special student." There are 100 students taking advantage of this special classifi cation. reports Brown. For more information about JSTC's program, call her at 296-1341. The first Christmas savings club originated in a bank in Carlisle, Pa., in 1909.
