Kenansville News T. * C. Club ? Mrs. E.S. McGowsn was hostess m the home of Mrs. Stuart Hall for the Town & Country Bridge Gub ; Tuesday night, Feb. 21. Visiting players included Louise W. Mitchell. Mattie Barbee, Martha Swann and Carolyn Hall. Between progressions, the hostess served a strawberry dessert with cheese wafers, toasted pecans and tea or coffee. Gub high score was won by Mrs. Wood row Brinson and by Mrs. Mitchell for the visitors. Liberty Hall Bridge Gab Mrs. J.J. Wells was hostess for the Liberty Hall Bridge Gub Wed nesday with Mesdames Ruth Jones and Martha Sitterson substituting for absent members. Club high was captured by Louise W. Mitchell and by Mrs. Jones for the visiting players. Ice cream, cookies and peanuts were served by the hostess. She was assisted by Mrs. Sue Neil Lentz. Personals Recent visitors of Mrs. Wood row Brinson were Mrs. Bob Lawson of Fayetteville and Mrs. Julia Harriett of Trenton. Dr. Sallie Morrow of Iowa has Newton. They visited relatives in FayetteviUe and Kinston while she was here. Earl Fife of Manassas, Va. has been visiting the Tom Fifes. Rev. and Mrs. Troy D. Mullis spent several days recently with their son, Troy Jr. and family in Midland. They also visited relatives in Mint Hill. Mrs. Gordon Kornegay spent Thursday in New Bern with the Art Paschals. Mrs. H.D. Taylor and Mrs. Eldon Brown made a business trip to Raleigh Thursday. Among those from Grove Church who attended Wilmington Jpresby tery meeting in Jacksonville Satur day were Rev. Troy D. Mullis, Frances Stevens, Louise W. Mitchell and the Revs. Ann and David Dickey. Louise Boney, Fannie McGowan and Viola Quinn went to the pancake and sausage supper, at Pearsall Church Saturday. Miss Annie Catherine Rhodes made a business trip to Kinston Friday, Mrs. Faison McGowen spent the weekend with relatives in Fayette viile. Miss Lila Shaffer of Burgaw spent the weekend with Mrs. Ivy Bowden. Visiting with Mrs. Viola W. Quipn Sunday were the Bobby Pittmani 'and Mrs. Wilmer Gray Allen of Jacksonville and the Jimmy Quinns of Riegelwood. Mrs. Rudy Navidad of Fayetteville visited Mrs. Robert Hollingsworth Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W.M. "Gene" Autry and son Scott, and grandson, Josh, visited Mrs. Autry's parents and grandmotehr in Roanoke Rapids last week. They also visited with two of Mrs. Autry's aunts. Sunday the family traveled to Florence, S.C. To VILLAGE DUPLICATE BRIDGE CLUB The Village Duplicate Bridge Gub held its -egularly scheduled game Wednesday, Feb. 22. The winners of the Howell movement were: First - 1 Marty Toal and Merle Currin of Wallace: Second (tied) Thelma Weatherly of Warsaw and Pony Quinn of Beulaville; also Blanche ? Shipp of Clinton and Morris Grady of Beulaville: Third - Emma Cavenaugh of Wallace and Lee Allred of Rose Hill. All bridge players are invited to play duplicate every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Roifc Hill Restaurant. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN CLUSTER MEETING The Rose Hill United Methodist Church will host Group 4 Cluster event of the Goldsboro District United Methodist Women on Tues day, March 6. The theme for 1984 is "A Cruise on UMW Love Visible." The cruise will start at 7:30 p.m. with singing to begin at 7H5. Coodrinatdrs for this event will be Elaine Hall of Kenansville, Ellis Henry Townsend of Wallace and Hester Powell of Teachey. The United Methodist Churches included in this cluster are: Carlton's Chapel, Charity, Kenansville, Mag nolia, Rose Hill, Sarecta, Turkey. " Unity, Wallace, Warsaw, Friend ' ship. Providence. The Senior Adult Club of Dobson - Chapel Church community met Feb. Hat the church. I The meeting was opened with ; devotional service by the pastor. - Rev. Ernest L. Johnson, after which I the 16 members present enjoyed a * covered-dish luncheon in the fellow - ship hall which was decorated in the - Valentine day motif. The next meeting will be held at the church March 13 at 2 p.m. All' senior adults are invited to attend. RURITAN CLUB : VISITS A & A Three officers of Cape Fear District attended A&A Ruritan CTub meeting recently at Ruritan Edgar Eden's farm in Hoke County. Chip Watson, president, conducted the meeting and recog nized each visitor, asking them to take part in the program. Those present were: District Governor Ivey Harper, Albertson; Zone Governor, W.T. Mercer of Red Springs, and A.T. Johnson, publicty director from Parkton. Harper expressed his appreciation for all the club was doing as a service * club in their community. He also encouraged them to keep active and ; take advantage of the apportunities that the national office has to offer.
