Spring Is The Time To Plant Trees
The second annual Duplin. Tree Day was held Saturday
in Kenansville at the county agricultural extension
building. Tree Day was coordinated by Phil Denlinger,
Duplin agricultural extension horticulture agent, and
350 orders were taken during February from area
residents. According to Denlinger, more than 750
people turned out to claim the 17,500 trees and 20
volunteers helped distribute the small pines, crape
myrtles, dogwoods and maples. The event will be
offered again next year with orders being taken in
February and the trees arriving for distribution the first
Saturday of March.
Kenansville Dixie
Youth Tryouts
Saturday
The Kenansville Dixie Youth
Baseball League will hold tryouts on
Saturdayt March 10, at 10 a.m. at
Turkey Field.
All youngsters ages 8 to 12 are
eligible to try out. If a youngster is
already on a team, they do not have
to try out again.
Registration was held March 3.
However, if someone did hot register
he will need to bring a registration
form signed by a parents, a copy of
his birth certificate, and a S10
registration fee.
Players will be assigned to a team
within a few days. Kenansville has
five teams: The UCB Dodgers, IGA
Cubs, Phillips Phillies, Kenansville
Drugstore Reds and Brown's
Yankees.

9-man rock combo, "The AH
American Express" will perform at
James Kenan High School on
Tuesday, March 13th. The concert is
sponsored by the U.S. Army re
cruiters at the Army recruiting
station in Clinton.
