SALUDA
One of Saluda's most valuable
upets, to ttw summer t toe, is
the Julia F. Goelet Memorial
Library. It is open morning
and afternon every day during
the three summer months.
Mra/ifcebecca Shand, who has
been comfeg^to Saluda from
Columbia for many years has
charge of the Library and each
season her many friends rejoice
to see her at her desk.
The Saluda summer season is
now in full swing. All of the
cottages on Columbia Avenue
are occupied.
The family of the Reverend
Alfred Berkley have recently ar
rived and are in their residence.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker are oc
cupying the Pickard cottage.
| Miss Emily Holmes, nephews
and neices, are in their cottage.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Du
j wall have taken the Baker resi
dence
The Reverend Mr. and Mrs.
Pratt of Columbia, S. C., have
rented the Morrison cottage.
Mrs. J. E. Young and family
have secured the Holme's house
for the season.
j The County Home Demon
stator, Miss Padgett, was in
Saluda on Friday, June 22. In
b the mornig she gave a talk to
"Ihe girls on the proper and be
coming calors of dresses for
their different types. The young
folks who were present listened
with interest and their intelli
gent questions showed their ap
preciation of the subject.
In the afternoon the women
assembled to see a demonstra
tion of dreffs form, fashioned on
the person for whom it was in
tended. The result showed the
great usefulness of these self
forms in dres-making. Several
of the women present subscrib
ed to an outfit for themselves.
