CAPES AND BOLERC
OF SPRING ST
'
ALL signs point to an otn-of-the-ordinary
style program for spring.
Seems as If every new-appeanng number
on the stage of fashion, whether it
be hat. wrap, daytime frock or evening
gown, brings with it a thrill of "some
thing different" Which, of 'course
means that we have in promise a most
Interesting time when it comes to
choosing our spring regalia.
Two refreshingly new items of ex
ploltation for spring are capes and boleros.
As to the cape or capelet it answers
"present"i to every roll call of
the mode, making Itself conspicuouslycharming
on it matters not whether
frock, blouse or coat. A very smartlooking
cape-coat model is shown in
the picture. It Is uavy 'due. for navy
has returned In all its former glory.
The braid trimming Is multicolored,
thus adding that vivid note which so
characterizes all fashion this season.
At the presen* the cape coat with
sleeves Is the bract ion! choice, hut
later certain fashinnlsts declare toat

lur favor. Exceedingly handsome are
rape coats of black satin or fullle.
The holero theme vies with that of
the cape both for street costume ot
daytime frock. Very attractive la tnt
cloth dress shown here, which emphasizes
not only the bolero Idea but the
tailored close-buttoned waistcoat
which Is a favorite topic In today's
fashions.
Many of the colorful crepe de chine
spring dresses boast a bolero over a
blouse which Is sewed to a plaited
skirt. These models are very youthful
in appearance. The anderwalst
portion or blouse Is usually of a con
trasting shade. There Is a tendency
to use flesh-colored satin or heavy J
crepe, the same tucked or plaited In
a tailored way.
With the bolero, the circular skirt
is as popular as the plaited types.
Many of the bolefo frocks have girlish
round turnover collars and turnback
cuffs of gay printed leather, with r
low-pcsed belt to match.
