A's of ?e country, an effort is being made ;o obtain a county school nurse. The lunch committee was very successful in having this department put on a paying basis this year. Hot lunches were served during the cold mouths. Ice creahi, milk and crackers during the warm weather. This committee raised funds and provided free lunches for 20 under-nourished children during the whole school term. The library committee reported over 1,900 books in the school library. The library will be kept open during the vacation weeks for the benefit or the children. A vacation reading club will be formed and diplomas given to those meeting the requirements. The ways and means committee reported about $250 proceeds from a birthday party, a Valentine supper, and a rummage sale. The social committee has made tne meetings of the association very delightful affairs by providing tea at most of the meetings. At the beginning of the school term a reception was given for the teachers, which was well attended and enjoyed by all. A party was given at the Mill Community House; also lunch was served at the County Teachers' meeting. The entertainment committee assisted in many ways to get the parents interested in the work, inviting them to the meetings and making them feel welcome. The program committee provided a delightful program at each meeting. The publicity committee has been very helpful in keeping the P" T. A. before the public and advertising the meetings. The needs committee reported a playground slide had been bought for the primary grades. Several small sums have been spent for equipmeni in the various grades. Three sets of supplementary readers have been bought; also a new school victrola. The association is very proud 01 the fact that it has helped the Tryon School to become a standard school. More than $300 has been spent by the P. T. A. for the school this year, ana , the moral support it has given the faculty has been of even greater ben ent. New officers for the coming year are as follows: Mrs. Doubleday, 1 president; Mrs. Rion, vice president; Miss Mills, secretary; Mrs. Sayre, treasurer. Smithfleld, N.
