Among the prominent speakers were S. E. Bailey, field director of the American Red Cross, Mrs. Sa muel Jack, Chairman of the Gray Lady unit. The invocation was by Father Klesh and the welcoming address by Capt. T. L Allman, senior medical officer. General I. W. Miller presented the diplomas while Mrs. I. W. Mil ler capped the graduates and the Volunteer Service Pledge was led by Mrs. M. A. Scverson, assistant chairman. The following received their dip lomas: Ruth Amundsen, Agnes Bardley, Virginia Chamberlain, Pa tricia Crutchfield, Sally Gault, Jac quelyn Hardy, Priscilla Hockman, Lou Koonts, Marcene Mayer, Ruth Mileson, Ruth Miller, Virginia Rit iter, Bcttye Skocpol, Evelyn Vcl- liness, and Lahoma Walker. Dance Pupils lo Give Recital Tuesday Night On Tuesday at 8 p.m. the school auditorium will be the scene of the dance recital of the pupils of Mar garet Rose. There will be a small admission fee and a percentage of the proceeds will go to the school. The primary grades will present tap and ballet numbers. The older girls will present solos by Happy Hurst, Shirley Morton. Carol Ernulli; songs by Lynne Ri chardson. A new number, "The Happy Picknickcrs," by Joyce At kinson, Mary Haynes and Happy HUrst is extremely different and attractive. The costumes will be unusually beautiful. Revival Services End; 13 Become Church Members The sermons of the Rev. James C'ammack, Jr., of Smithficld, which were heard last week each evening of the Revival were deeply appre ciated by a large group of Have- I lock residents. Chaplain R. D. Cleaves conducted the services and splendid congregational sing ing was under the direction of Miss Katnerine Latta of the First Pres byterian-church of New Bern on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. On Thursday and Friday eve nings the singing was conducted by J. B. Lamb. Thirteen new members were accepted into the church during the week. The Woman's Church Service league is sponsoring a chicken supper Wednesday evening 5:30 to 7 in the Community building. The chairmen in charge are Mrs. Gar land Conley and Mrs. C. J. Ander son. The Annual Church conference will take place at the Havelock Community chapel Sunday, May 23, immediately following the reg ular morning service. At this time the annual election of the church board of trustees will take place. Various reports of the past year will be heard and the Sunday School superintendent will be ap pointed. Mrs. Shaughnessy has been a member of the school board for the Cherry Point School for the past year. Their daughter Natalie was a pupil in the fourth grade. Chaplain W. W. On May 29 Mrs. Beulah Mister will go to her home in Manteo for the summer. She has spent the last few months with her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Mister of Ocracoke Drive and will return early in the fall. Mrs. Gilbert Mister will spend the holiday week end in Hamilton where she will Wsit her mother, Mrs. Asa Johnson, and her sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Roan. Mr. and Mrs. II. E. Simpson spent the weekend in Winston Salem. On Friday, May 21. Miss Joan Ferguson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ferguson, of 55 E. Cen tral drive, will graduate from An derson college, Anderson, S. C. Douglas Ferguson is at home from the Army basic training course in Texas for a short visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ear! Ferguson, of 55 E. Central drive. De Valera Meets Captor After Thirty Years MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) When Eamon De Valera, former Eire premier, visited here recent ly, he met the soldier who captured him 30 years ago. William Carru thers is. now a Melbourne masseur, but was in the British Army when De Valera was an Irish rebel. "You've changed, Mr.. Dc Valera, since that far away day when I arrested you in the name of the king," Carruthers said. "I've been waiting 30 years to hear the true story of how you found me," Dc Valera said.
