There are other places but there
are certainly not enough of them.
It may be that the North Caro
lina vacationist only wishes a diet
of coke and hot dog or is content
ed with a steady succession of
greasy fish and greasv ham. There
is at least a possibility, however,
that the best of the tourists, ready
o leave behind he most profit to
the resorts, might like something
a little better.
Its a fine thing to have water
festivals and parades, symphonic
dramas, maybe even do" track
races at our coastal resorts. But a
little better food would not hurt.
The sad truth is that North Caro
lina with fill its beauties and faci
lities remains largely a gastrono
mical desert. If it is really and
truely interested in building a good
and enduring vacation business,
Variety Vacationland has got to
provide some variety and quantity
in the food it offers the vacation
ists. And at present it is doing a
mightly poor job.
