When they are landed, it is usually while the angler is fishing oyer one of the numerous coral reefs between Cape Lookout and the blue waters of the Gulf Stream 23 miles off shore at Morehead City. Mrs. Gutner was fishing for sea bass at the time the snapper was taken. Betiie Cnbs Beat Davis The Bettic Cubs defeated Davis in a hard fought contest Tuesday at Bettie, 15-12. The scorer from the horrte team in most baseball games is considered the official scorer for that particular contest. Many of these official scor ers do' not seem to realize that the information that they have at their fingertips is in great demand in many places, and par ticularly at the News-Times sports desk. We like to give com plete coverage to all sports in Carteret county, but this cannot be done without the assistance of these scorers. Every local league ought to work out Its own means of ' disseminating this information. If the Individual scorers will not take upon themselves the task of sending scores and other statistics to the press, the- seme central office ought to. The Tidewater League has an official statistician, but even he has a hard time getting reports from the individual scorers. It all boils down to the efficiency of the scorers. Without their cooperation, not much can be accomplished in the way of keep ing records. While we are calling some storekeepers to task for be ing stingy with tbeir records, we might also thank those scorers and managers who have been sending in forma tioa in a steady stream to the newspapers all along. They may rest assured that their pains are appreciated, and we hope that they will continue to cooperate with us in the future. SPORTS EDITOR.
