N.. Willis, recent bride, received

as. Mrs. Claude Lewis, mother of
the bride, and Mrs. James Macy,
mother of the bridegroom, also
were fiiven white corsages.
A dessert course of delicious
angel food cake topped with ice
cream and pineapple and an iced
pineapple drink were served prior
to the playing of three six-hand
progressions of bridge.
At the conclusion of play, Miss
Corctta Thompson was high score
winner and received a hand paint
ed card tray. Second high, a pastel
guest towel was won by Mrs. Ro
bert Freeman while Mrs. Jimmy
Rabon was consoled wilh a similar
gift.
The hostesses presented Miss
Lewis with a china console set and
Misses Stallings, Hufham and Ful
cher and Mrs. Willis with sets of
fruit glasses.

son of Mrs. George Henderson of
this city, has recently received his
orders to return to the United
States for reassignment to the
Troop information and Education
division of the Department of the
Army in Washington, D. C, from
his post with the eighth army in
Yokohama, Japan. Prior to his de
parture from the eighth army
headquarters, he was assigned as
commanding officer of the T. I.
and E. section, Headquarters
Eighth Army.
Entering the army upon gradua
tion from the United States Mili
tary academy in 1933 he was first
assigned as company commander
with the 22nd Infantry Regiment
from 1933 until 1937. After serving
with various units in the States
and Panama from 1937 until 1945,
he received his orders for transfer
to depart from Japan on June 11,
1948.
Prior to his entrance into the
service he attende'd the New Bern
high school, Davidson college.
Duke University, and the United
States . Military academy at West
Point, N. Y. His wife, Kathfiuna,
and two children will accompany
him on his return to the states.
Auxiliary Council Holds ,
Annual, Banquet Thursday
The Young Woman'i Auxiliary
Council of the Atlantic Baptist
Association held 1U annual
banquet at the Tabernacle Baptist
church in New Bern Thursday
night. Miss Noma Jones, Presid
ent, of Morehead City, was In
charge. Hie invocation was ott
ered by Mrs. L. D. Daniel of New
Bern. Miss Lois Bowden of New
Bern extended the welcome to
which Miss Joyce Marie Lewis of
Davis responded. ' -
During the business session,
Miss Jane Marshall Jenkins of
New Bern, Associatlonal Young
People's leader, discussed the goals
to be reached this year in com
memoration of sixty years of the
Women's Missionary Union. She
presented certificates of recogni
tion to the auxiliaries reaching the
standard of 1947. The following
officers for the coming two years
were elected: Miss Delena Hughes
of New Bern, President; Miss
Joyce Marie Lewis of Davis, vice
president; Miss Annie Willis of
Morehead City, secretary.
The theme of the meeting was
"Open Windows of the Y. W. A."
Special music was supplied by two
duets sung by Misses Pat Lamm
and Jean Dixon of the Pollocksville
auxiliary and Misses- Nevin and
Edith Leary of the New Bern
Tabernacle, auxiliary. The Y. W.
A. magazine and the Y. W. A.
camps were discussed by the New
Bern First auxiliary and the More
head City auxiliary respectively,
singing jingles to illustrate their
points.
The inspirational message of the
evening was brought by Mrs. H.
M. Hines of Pollocksville, who used
as her subject "Seeing Through
Our Windows the Opportunity of
Turning Many to Righteousness."
She closed her message by compar
ing the lives of young women to
be used in shaping lives for Christ.
A solo, "Speak to My Heart," was
sung by Miss Delena Hughes of
New Bern. Miss Lillian Humphrey
of New Bern pronounced the benediction.

by the Woman's Missionary
Society of the Tabernacle church

tive arrangements of summmer
flowers.
