Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Livingston, of Pamlico drive, are on a lO day trip through the western part of the state. They plan to visit Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock and other points of interest. Mr. Chalk, insurance agent and representing his client, E. L. Brakehouse, Offered the countv $400 in payment of back taxef and paving assessment on the .Carl Gorham property at 29th and Evans street, Morehead City. The county accented the offer which will place the estate on the tax books after a lapse of many years, Dr. Bonner said. The $400 will he divided between Morehead City and the county. Prior to the dose of the meeting Mr. Potter called the board's at tention to the lead editorial in Friday's NEWS-TIMES. The editorial pointed out that the county and the countv's three municipalities were negligent in publishing statements on proposed budgets. The board admitted that the t.iiH0 shnuld he published and .requested that Mr. Potter supnly the 194849 budget estimate auer its approval by the local govern ment commission. Mr. Potter said that any figures reouested in his office were a vailable at any time and remark ed further that he resented the newspaper's comment that the court house was reluctant to di vulne such information. All commissioners were present at Monday's meeting except Lio nel Pclletier. Mr. Potter acted as clerk. in place of Irvin Davis who is attending the Democratic con vention in Philadelphia. Theatre (Continued From Page One) No one was reported injured. As the flames swept toward the front of the theatre, the roof cared in. Three Professors Arrive JU Dvktr Laboratory Rerent arrivals at tie Duke Uni versity Marine Laboratory include Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Apgar, of Eliza bethtown College, Elizabethtown, Pa., Dr. T. P; Haas of the Phila delphia College of Science and Pharmacy, and pr. and Mrs. Bern ard Harkema, of North Carolina State college. : Dr. Hnrkema is continuing the program of research he began at the laboratory last year on tne pa rasites of North Carolina fishes. He is secretary of the North Caro lina Academy of Science. Dr. Haas is on a brief collect ing trip in order to obtain botani cal materials for the museum of Philadelphia college. He is parti cularly interested in obtaining in sectivorous plants. He has collect ed and photographed in color about eight species, including the Venus fly trap. Dr., Haas was for merly connected with the Botani cal Gardens at Munich, Germany. Dr. Apgar is professor of audio visual education at Elizabethtown. At Beaufort he will spend about six weeks taking underwater mov ies in color, especially around the Cape Lookout breakwater. In ad dition to the diving equipment at the Duke Station, Dr. Apgar will also use special equipment of his own, including an underwater mpvie camera.
