Dunn of the Carr Memorial church in Durham, was a visitor at the Ann St. Methodist church Sunday. Jackie Stoughton of Raleigh was a recent guest of Ottis Jefferson, Jr. ' Mr. Jerry Thomas of Suffolk, Va., spent last weekend with Mr. Sam Thomas. Ensign Macon Snowden arrived Sunday for a visit with his mother, Mrs. M. S. Snowden. Dotty, to Tennessee, where they will visit their grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson went oh for a trip to Philadelphia and Canada. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Williamson, of Ahoskie, returned home Monday after a week's visit with Mrs. Wil liamson's sisters, Mrs. C. W. Scott and Mrs! T. H. Willis, and her brother, Cecil Harrell. Mr. C. W. Scott spent last week in Lake View, S. C, with his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Van Potter left last week for a three week trip to New York. Mrs. W. L. Bell returned to her home Friday after visiting for sev eral days in Dover. Mrs. Clarence Bowers, of Flori da, is spending the summer with her sfster, Miss Mattie Duncan. Mr. Frank Hatton was discharg ed Monday. Mrs. William II. Lamoreaux. of Atlantic, was discharged Monday, following treatment. Mr. John Webster Willis, of Beaufort, was admitted Friday for an emergency appendectomy. He is doing nicely. Miss Lillian Frances Giddens, RN, anesthesist at the hospital, re turned Monday following a two week Vacation. Capt. Henry Goodwin Dies At Morehead City Hospital Capt. Henry Davis Goodwin, 76, died in the Morehead City hospital at 7:30 Saturday night. He had been taken to the hospital at about 7:15 p.m. after suffering a heart attack. Captain Good in, who retired from the U. S. Coast Guard in 19 31, was for many years in charge HEAD THIS WAY FOR FALL HEADWARE of the Fort Macon Coast Guard sta tion. Since his retirement, he had been very prominent in the activi ties of the Methodist church. He Was a member of the board of stewards, chairman of the board of trustees, and treasurer of the First Methodist Church school. Mrs. J. C. Taylor, who was as sociated with him In church and Sunday School work, said of him, "He was one of the finest Christian gentleman I ever knew." , He leaves, in addition to his wi dow, Mrs. H. D. Goodwin, a daugh ter, Mrs. Guy Bennett, of Durham, three sons, Lt. Cmdr. Clyde Good win, USCG, Chief Boatswain's Mate Henry Goodwin, USCG, and Bruce Goodwin, of Morehead City, presi dent of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and severs? grandchild ren. Services will be conducted today at 3 p.m. from the First Methodist church, with Rev. Lester A. Tilley officiating. Interment will be at the Buy View cemetery. Honorary groups participating in the funeral services are the board of stewards of the First Methodist church, Rotary, American Legion, Woodmen of the. World, and Ma sonic Lodge. Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside. Mrs. Mattie Styron Mrs. Mattie J. Styron, 68, of Lo la, passed, awny at 3 a.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Morehead City hos pital. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from the Free Will Baptist church of Lola, by the Rev. W. E. Anderson. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
