Miss Irene Spence, of Irene's Gift Shop is spending the week in New York buying her Christmas stock. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jones of Kinston announce the birth of a daughter, Mary Frances, at the General Memorial Hospital on July 30. Mrs. Jones is the former LaVera Freeman of this city. Thursday Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Chalk Mrs. W. B. Chalk entertained the Thursday afternoon bridge club at her home on Shackleford Ave. Lovely arrangements of cut sum mer flowers decorated the living room and dining room. Guests for the afternoon were Mrs. Fred Chalk, Mrs. Betty I.a montine, and Mrs. Richard Price. Mrs. I.amontine won the high score prize, a gold barrette, and Mrs. Quincy Stimpson was consoled with a novelty flower pot. The travelling prize went to Mrs. Mal colm Collins. The hostess served pineapple marshmallow mousse. During play she served iced drinks and pea nuts. HOSPITAL NOTES Mrs. Marguerite Hussey of Beau fort was admitted to the hospital Friday for an operation Saturday. Her condition is fairly good. Mr. Claude Morning, Jr. of Beau fort was admitted to the hospital for treatment Saturday. Mrs. Ray Woolen of Beaufort was admitted to the hospital Sat urday. Mrs. Guy M. Garner of Newport was discharged Saturday. Mrs. Raymond Harrell of Have lock was discharged Saturday. Mr. I. V. Willis order's land was discharged Saturday Mrs. Ross Salter of Atlantic was discharged from the hospital Sun day. Leslie Moore Begins Construction ef Come Leslie Moore last Monday Broke ground for a new home on his lot on the east side of Pollock street, Beaufort. Tha two-story house will be fin ished with brick veneer. Property on which Mr. Moore is building is Ipart of the land formerly owned by Dr. C. ii. Duncan. Mr, Moore's home is one of many that art going up in Beaufort. On Front Street extended houses are being built by Harvey Smith, Dr. Theodore .Salter, Claud Guthrie, and Jack Garner. Com. Ernest Davis and his family have recently moved into their new home in that section.
