Sanderson - Davis Vows Pledged n Candlelight Ceremony Friday Miss Ruth Macy returned home Sunday night after spending sev eral days in Weldon visiting Miss Jo Maddrcy. Mrs. Stamey Davis is ill at her home on Bridges Street. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Jerkin, of Wilson, spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Vick recently. Straits Methodist church was the scene of beautiful ceremony Fri day evening when Miss,. Audrey Beryl Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Davis, became the bride of Mr. William Hugh Sander son, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Sanderson of Rocky Point. Rev. Tilley, of Morehcad City, of ficiated at the double ring cere mony. The alter was banked with floor baskets of white gladioli, fern and show-on-the-mountain against a background of candlelight and greenery. The ferns were marked with white satin bows. Wedding music was furnished by Mrs. Gerald Whitehurst, who also, accompanied Mrs. Ruth Webb Bai ley, who sang "Oh Sweet Mystery of Life." The Lord's prayer was used as part of the benediction. The bride and bridegroom enter ed the church together. The bride wore a gown of blue chiffon which featured a bertha of chantilly laee. Her shoulder length veil fell from a half hat of chiffon and rosebuds. She wore elbow length gloves of matching lace and carried an arm bouquet of white ustcrs tied with white satin. Her matron of honor was Mrs. Matney Davis whose gown was of sunshine yellow chiffon. She wore a band of yellow flowers in her hair, yellow veil fell to the should er. She carried an arm bouquet of pink asters and pink satin ribbon. Mr. Marvin Nelson, of Raleigh, served as best man, for Mr. San derson, and ushers were Joe Pin ner, cousin of the bride and Tho mas Nelson Wilson. The bride's mother wore a aqua crepe dress and navy accessories, and her corsage was of pink roses The bridegroom'! mother chose a black silk print, and black acces sories. Her corsage was white car nations. ; The couple left later in the eve ning for a wedding trip to an un announced destination. For travel ing, the bride wore a suit of cop per feather-ray with green acces sories, and a corsage from her bri dal bouquet. Mrs. Anderson Is a graduate of Smyrna High school, and Morehead City commercial school. For the past years she has been employed as receptionist and nurse in Dr, S M. Hatcher's office in Morehead City. Mr. Sanderson served six years in the armed forces. He was one of the graduates of M. C. T. I. this term. Mr. and Mrs. Sanderson will be at home in Raleigh after Septem ber 20, where Mr. Sanderson will attend North Carolina State Col lege. He is a student of engineer ing. Barbara Olsen Celebrates Tenth Birthday Wednesday Miss Barbara Olsen, daughter of Mrs. Joe Smith, of Highway 70, celebrated her tenth birthday with a delightful party on Wednesday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. Approximately 25 friends of Miss Olsen were "present for an after noon of games and fun. During the entertainment. Bill Merrill, a local magician, charmed the group with his many feats of magic. The birthday cake,, which was placed in the center of the beauti fully decorated dining room table was served with ice cream as re freshments and each of the guests received novelty hats and bubble gum as favors. Miss Olsen received many lovely gifts from her friends. C, spent the week end with Mrs. Iona Ballou. Misses Betty and Sara Ballou left Sunday to spend several weeks McClellanville, S. C, visiting their aunt, Mrs. Lloyd Coleburn. Pre-Nupiial Parlies Given For Miss Audrey Davis Miss Audrey Davis was honored at a miscellaneous shower given by Mesdames L. U. Chadwick, Matney Davis, Sam Leffers and Margaret Johnson at the hoirce of Mrs. Chad wick, on Tuesday .night. The lionoree and her mother were presented corsages of red roses on their arrival. Mixed summer flowers decora ted the home, while white and green carried out the color motif in the dining room. Lime punch with green and white block cake was served to the thirty-eight guests of the ho norec. Miss Davis received many very lovely gifts, including her pattern in china, crystal and silwr. Miss Davis was honored with a cabencutting on Thursday evening, following the relufartsal. Mrs. L. J. Pinner gave the cake cutting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Davis. The house was decorated with mixed summer flowers and snow-on-thc-mountain. The dining table was covered with a lace cloth. Lighted tapers in double candlesticks, threw a mel low glow over the two tiered cake which was decorated in white and green, topped with miniature wed ding bells and dove. After the bride and groom cut the first slice, the many friend of the honoree were served lime punch and cake. HOSPITAL NOTES Mrs. David T. Willis and Mrs Fred Willis were joint hostesses at the Book and Bridge Club at the home of Mrs. David Willis on Aren dell Street Tuesday evening at eight o'clock. ' Guests for the evening were Mrs. Walter Morris and Mrs. Percy Deyo. ' High score prize, perfume, went to Mrs. John D. Willis and the floating prize, facial tissues, was won by Mrs. Ethan Davis, Jr. Guest high, note paper, was won by Mrs. Percy Deyo while Mrs. George R. Nelson was consoled with a hand painted fruit bowl. Banana splits were served as refreshments. Willis, of 1311 Shepard Street, Morehead City, was honored Wednesday with a supper party given by her husband. She received many lovely and at tractive gifts from her friends. Pink lemonade, cake and nuts with assorted candies were served as refreshments. The occasion was Mrs. Willis' 66th birthday and a host of friends called to congratulate her. Among the out-of-town guests was Mrs. Eli za T.Willis. Junior Woman's Club to Hold Cake Sale Saturday The Junior Woman's Club of Morehead City is opening the sea son with a cake sale on Saturday, September 4, at 9 a.m. in front of the Morehead City Drug store. All members are urged to help make this sale a success by participating in the preparations. To do so they should call Mrs. J. R. Sanders. The first fall meeting, of the club was held in the Civic Center at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening to make plans for the coming year. Every member was urged to sub scribe to the North Carolina Club Woman magazine. Floating Bridge Club Meets With Mrs.W.A. Howland Jr Mrs. Howard B. Smith, of Swans boro, was discharged Wednesday. Master Joseph D. Glass, of Kan napolis, was discharged Wednes day. ' Mr. Clifton Tawcette, of Burling ton, was admitted for treatment Wednesday. Mr. Robert Pigott, of Smyrna, was admitted the 26th for treatment. Mrs. Dock Swinson, of Newport, is doing nicely following an opera tion. Miss DeElla Wade, of Morehead City, is receiving treatment in the hospital. Mrs. Isaac N. Willis, of Harkers Island, remains ill in the hospital. Mrs. Marguerite Hussey, of Beau fort,, remains very ill in the hospital. Registered Nurses Hold Regular Monthly Meeting The Registered Nurses Club of Carteret County held its regular meeting at the Fort Macon Hotel Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. During the meeting it was decid ed that all nurses doing private duty in the hospital would charge $8.00 for 8 hours duty and one meal while practical nurses would get 79 percent of the fee Charged by registered nurses. , Mrs. W. A. Howland, Jr., enter tained the Floating Bridge club at her home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Mrs. Helen Williams received ny lon hose as high score, prize while second high, ice tea glasses, went to Mrs. Percy Deyo. Mrs. Betty Tarpee received clothes pins and powder puffs as guest high. The hostess served pineapple cake with ice cream for refresh ments and during play peanuts and cokes were served.
