Mr. and Mrs. Dallis Slake spent Sunday in Swanquarter with Mr. Blake's father, Mr. George A. Blake and relatives., Dr. and Mrs. Theodore Salter and family moved Monday into their new home on Front street extended. John Havas, who lias been on the staff of the Carteret-County News-Times, left Tuesday for his home in Jersey City, N. J. and will continue his studies at New York University this year. Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Martin, of Greenville, Pa. and Mr. and Mrs. W. Chisholm have been called here due to the critical illness of Mr. Ed Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jarrcll, of Media, Pa., left last week after spending ten days at the Inlet Inn. Dr. A. J. Jimenis, of New York City, is a guest at the Inlet Inn. Miss Frances Kelly left recently to enter Watts Hospital in Raleigh as a student nurse. Capt. Browning Finer, who has been a patient in the Baltimore Marine Hospital for the past three weeks, is very much improved. His wife, Mrs. Ruby Piner, has been with him visiting Mrs. Charles Ro zek, the former Ester Lawrence, of Beaufort. Mr. Piner plans to resume his work next week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Davidson, Lt. and Mrs. W. Cowlut, Mr. and Mrs. Joe House, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Potter plan to attend the Carolina-Texas football game at Chapel Hill tomorrow. Miss Catherine Gaskill has re turned to Beaufort to teach and is living at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Maxwell. Miss Mabel Cannady is spending the week at her home in Clinton. George Laughton, Jr., left last week to resume his studios at Wake Forest. Lindsay Hill left Tuesday to re s'inv h's studies at the University Of North Carolina. Johnnv Willis has returned to Campbell College. Miss Alice Laughton Honored On Birthday Miss Alice Laughton, Point, was honored at a party given Saturday by Mrs. George Laughton home on route 101. Refreshments of fruit punch with cake, nuts and mints uric served in the dining room where the green and pink motif was car ried out. The table was centered with a lovely birthday cake sur rounded by gardenia loaves and tiny pink flowers. Crystal candela bra with pink candles were placed on either end of the table. Hudson, of Havelock, was "discharged Wednesday. Mr. Robert Brown, of Morehoad City, underwent a tonsillectomy on Wednesday. Willis Transferred To Transportation Company WITH THE EIGHTH ARMY IN YOKOHAMA, Japan Sergeant First Class McNeile Willis of More head City, has recently been trans- ferred to the 347th Transportation Harbor Craft company in Yokoha ma, Japan. Sgt. Willis enlisted in the regu lar Army in October 1947 and de parted for Japan in December 19 47. Upon his arrival in Japan on Jan. 17, 1948, he was assigned to "A" Battery of the 753rd AAA Gun Battalion, a unit of the 138th AAA Group, on duty in Yokohama, Japan. During his stay in "A" Battery, Sgt.
