Miss Ann Mills spent the week end in Raleigh where she attended the dances at St;;te College Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Leary and Mr. slid Mrs. Tad Davis attended the Duke-Wake Forest game on Saturday. Dr. and Mrs. B. F. Royal were among those attending the Carolina-William & Mary this week end. Mrs. Robert Garner and mother, Mrs. Hunter, and Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Wendell spent Saturday in Kins- ton. Miss Ann Arthur, who is a mem ber of the Montreal faculty, spent the week end at home. Miss Mabel I.aine, a tcapher in 'Goldsboro, was home for the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Davis and daughter, of Davis, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Quinccy Stimpson and' daughter, Sharon, spent Sun day with Mrs. Stimpson's sister, In Goldsboro. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Garner re turned home Sunday after spend ing a week in Durham. Clayton Honored At Tea In Williamston Mrs. Daryl Vincent Clayton, the former Miss Eleanor Rhodes of Newport, was honored at love'v candlelight tea in the Woman's; Club of Williamston from 4 to o o'clock on Wednesday. The tea was given by her mother-in-law, Mrs. Daryl Clayton, Sr. The guests were greeted by Mrs. Robert Coburn who introduced them to the receiving line com posed of tfrs. D. V. Clayton, Sr., the honoree, Mrs. Clayton Sledge of Weldon, Miss Ellen Taylor, bride-elect, and Mrs. Rush Bondu rant. Mrs. W. 0. Abbitt directed the guests to the dining table. The club room was decorated throughout with ivy, baskets of chrysanthemums and cathedral candelabra with burning tapers The piano top was banked with vari-colored mums, magnolia leaves and held lighted candles. The dining table was covered with a white cloth and centered with a massive arrangement of chrysan themums and white cut flowers. Flanked on either side of three branched candelubra with lighted tapers held miniature nosegays of white mums with white satin streamers cascading to the base. Fern, ivy, and white cut flowers were delicately aranged on the table encircling the centerpiece and punch bowl. t Mrs. Miller Harrell and Mrs. J. L. Parker, Jr., served iced cakes, nuts and mints and Mrs. Walter Martin presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. W. C. Manning and Mrs. Nell Ward provided music during the tea hours. Mrs. H. L. Swain presided at the guest's register. Fortnightly Club Meets With Mrs. Alan Ferebee The Fortnightly bridge club met with Mrs. Alan Ferebee on Thurs day afternoon at 8:30 o'clock. Upon arrival of the guests a des sert course of pineapple upside down cake with coffee were served. Guests of the club for the after noon were Mrs. H. H. Hanson and Mrs. Luther Hamilton. Club high was won by Mrs. Ha rold Webb and guest high went to Mrs. Hanson. Service Club To Hold Birthday Banquet The 4-JI Service Club of Beau fort County will hold a banquet tomorrow evening at 7 o'clock in honor of the club's 12th birth day. TTie group attends church to gether the second Sunday in every month and every third Wednesday night they attend prayer meeting in a group. Last month they attended the First Baptist church and the Free Will Baptist church. At a recent meeting they wrote Round-Robin letters to former members of the Hi-Y who are attending college this year. John Lash ley is teach ing the Hi-Y's Bible study course. Literary and Art Club To Sponsor Cooking School The Literary 'and Art depart ment of the Woman's Club will sponsor an all electric cooking school in the Carteret Recreation Center on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. Tickets for the school, which will be presented by the Tide Wa ter Power Company, can be ebtain ed from members of the Literary and Art club. Prizes will be given and proceeds will be divided between the club and the Recreation center. Home Department te Meet The American Hme Depart ment of the Woman's Club will meet tomprrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the Civic Center. Dr. John Morris will be guest speaker and will give a talk on cancer. All members are urged to attend.
