Taylor went to Dur ham yesterday to receive medical treatment at Duke hospital. Rraxton Adair went to Raleigh Saturday to attend the game and visit friends. Baby Linda Fay Salter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Salter, of Atlantic, was discharged yes terday. Mr. Willie Tuten, of Morehead City, was admitted Sunday eve ning for treatment. Mrs, Alice tfuleher was admitted Wednesday for treatment. Mr. Thomas Gillikin, of Beau fort, was admitted recently for treatment. Pierson entertained a group of friends at dinner on Thanksgiving Day at the Inlet Inn. Mrs. Odell Merrill entertained her bridge club Friday evening at her home. At the conclusion of play Mrs. Gilbert Potter was declared h i 1 1 , score winner and received Christ mas wrapping paper. Refreshments wore strawberry short cake with coffee. Mrs. Potter will entertain the club next week. OBITUARIES Mrs. Elva Qavis Mrs. Elva Davis, 61, died at her home in Marshallberg on Friday, November 26. The funeral was scheduled for yesterday afternoon in the Marsh allberg Methodist Chinch, weather permitting. She is survived by her husband. Leroy Davis; one son. Percy of Marshallberg; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Davis, of Marshallberg; one ! sister, Mrs. James Davis oi Marsh allberg; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Sabra Mason Funeral services for Mrs. Sabra Mason, 70, who died Friday after noon at her home in Atlantic were conducted at the home at 11 o'clock Sunday morning. F.lder Gray, pastor of the Primitive Bap tist church at Atlantic and Kins ton, officiated. Interment was in the community cemetery, Alia til ic. Mr. Mason's death followed scv-1 eral months illness. She was the i daughter of the late Joseph W. and j Lovey Styron Smith, Atlantic, ami is survived by four daughters and three sons. Her daughters are Mrs. Harvey ' E. Mason, Beaufort, and Howard E. Beck Soil Conservationist Mr. Lawrence Garner, supervisor of the Lower Neuse Soil Conserva tion district, recently remarked how good a job of seeding the highway shoulders the State High way department has done on Route 101 east of Cherry Point and on the Mill Creek road between Newport and the Prison camp. Mr. Garner futher slated "I hope that the Highway department will do the same to the Nine Foot road when it is completed." He also cautioned farmers to use sleds when hauling tillage implements over sodded road shoulders. Mrs. Daisy Knonce has already grazed a cow and heifer for a week on crimson clover, rye grass win- ter pasture. She also has mixed rye and oats about ready for graz ing along with two acres of per manent pasture and one acre of sweet clover for next spring and summer. Kerney Merrill. Sr. and Kerney Merrill, Jr. have both had drain age ditches cut with a dragline during the past week. Kerney, Sr. is the first Cuteiet county farmer cooperating with the Lower Neuse Soil Conservation district to com plete his soil conservation farm plan. Mr. Merrill's plan called for improved open ditch drainage. a permanent pasture, and winter cover crops uith crop residue man agement on all the corp land. MERRIMON Nov. 26 Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Lawrence left for Norfolk on Wednesday afternoon to spend the Thanksgiving holidays.
