'Royal Ambassadors' Will Meet In Davis Church The Royal Ambassadors conclave of the Atlantic Baptist association will be held tomorrow at 10:30 in the Davis Baptist church with Mrs. Lucille Murphy, counselor of the association, presiding. The Rev. John H. Bunn, pastor of the First Baptist church, More head City, will deliver the mission ary message in the morning. His subject will be "Boys and Mis sions." Lunch will be served by the women of the missionary society and the young women's auxiliary of the Davis church. The afternoon speaker will be the Rev. A. S. Lamm, pastor of the Pollocksville church and divisional, Royal Ambassador counselor. The title of his address will be "R. A.'s, Our Hope for Years to Come." The meeting will adjourn at 2:30 p.m. Boys, their counselors, and pastors will attend. Miss Thclma M. Harris presided at the service of worship which was given by the MYF of the host church. Mrs. Grace Walance, the inspira tional speaker, was presented to the Methodist youth by Miss Har ris. Mrs. Walance used "World Peace" as her general theme. In discussing this subject she pointed out that all nations that have de pended upon armed power have failed. She contended that material power has failed as a means of preserving peace in the past. She said that even atomic energy was not powerful enough to bring peace. She held up spiritual power as the only hope for the future. Special music was rendered by Miss Nettie Wilson, Earl Lewis, and Miss Grace Fitts. Miss Betty Lou Dowty read a poem, "Aware ness." The Rev. R. N. Fitts, pastor of the host church, was in charge of the installation service. He de livered a charge to each of the new officers. The officers are as follows: president, Miss Wanda Hill, Marshallbcrg; vice-president, Miss Hellen Guthrie, Franklin Me morial Methodist church, Morcheatl City; adult councilor, the Reverend C. Maness Mitchell, pastor of the Beaufort circuit. Secretary, Miss Judy Mann, Newport, was not pre sent. . The roll of churches was called Jesus," and Ruth Webb Bailey who sang "The Lost Chord." Mr. Newberry played Yuletidc tunes, oldtimc favorites, and church hymns. COUNTY NEWS-ITKES, UOBEBEAD CUT AND BEAUFORT, N. November Parking Ileier Fees Total $821.72 Money collected in Beaufort parking meters for the month of November totaled $621.72, William Hatsell, town clerk, reported yes terday. Last week the collection was the second highest since the meters were installed, an indication per haps, Mr. Hatsell commented, that Christmas buying has started. The meters coughed up $170.56, which was $3.04 less than the highest week tallied. That week was in August. , Living Space Available Dan Walker, manager of the Beaufort Chamber of Commerce, repeated the request that residents list with him rooms or apartments for rent and whether they are fur nished or unfurnished. Some resi dents have already complied. Mr. Walker said, and the' Chamber ap preciates the information. The Library club 'held an organ ization meeting last week and the following people were -elected as officers: Ona Willis, president; Lucille Wright, vice-president; Frances Brinson, secretary and treasurer; Jean Morton, social chairman; Lucille Wright program chairman; Charlene Salter, report er; Mrs. Lollis, the librarian, is the faculty advisor. The club plans to meet every fourth Tuesday and they intended to give a public play sometime after Christmas. Right now they're working on nlans to improve the library which surely needs it. , The Teen-Agers don't realize what they are missing when they don't hang-out at the Sanitary Lunch counter. The "counter," now under the management of Luther Earl Lewis, is a very nice estab lishment with a juke box and plenty of hot dogs and hamburg ers. I have just received word that one of our 1948 graduates, J. D. Helms, has left for Germany. An other one, Bill Marks, is due home about Sunday. Two Morehead City Men Enlist in Army, Air Force Two Morehead City men enlisted recently in the Army and Air Force, according to an announce ment from the New Bern recruit ing office. Archie L. Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston C. Edwards, 1810 Fisher street, enlisted in the re gular Army for three years and George H. Parker, son of Mrs. M. G. Parker, 1713 Arendell street, en listed in the Air Force for three years. Smyrna PTA to Sponsor Clam Bake, Square Dance Smyrna Parent-Teacher associa tion will sponsor a clam bake and square dance at Willis Brothers clam house, Williston, at 8 o'clock tomorrow night, Mrs. Elmer Wil lis, president, announced this week. Cotton, canned milk, peanuts, pecans, candy, flour, fruit juice. Yams, potatoes, poultry, wed meats, and pork will be sold to pay the freight cost.
