Elks Open Holiday Season With Party Thursday Night Members of Morehead City Beaufort lodge No. 1710, Benevo lent and Protective Order of B'lks opened their holiday parties with a hamburger, baked bean, and po tato salad supper last night at the lodge on Arendell street. Each Elk and his wife were requested to bring a toy. Christmas day will be open house at the lodge and on Thurs day, Dec. 30, there will be a New Year's party. B- Roberts Monday evening at 8 o'clock with Miss Dorothy Ro berts, assisting hostess. The service was held by candle light while lovely Christmas de corations and a lighted tree en hanced the beauty of the home. Mrs. Fred Lewis presided over the meeting which was opened with the group singing "Joy to the World." Dcvotionals were given by Mrs. D. G. Bell and were inters persed with carol singing. Mrs. Bell, also recited a poem on the Wise Men and Mrs. Linwood Brin son gave a story entitled "The Least One." Mrs. Theodore Econo mon presented a Christmas story "Where Love Is, There Is God Also," after which the devotionals were closed with a prayer. Guests were then invited into the dining room where refresh ments of fruit cake, brownies and punch were served by Mrs. Roberts from a beautifully appointed table lighted with red candles. The meeting was concluded with the benediction. Kindergarten Class Has Christmas Party Mrs. Harvey Hamilton gave a Christmas party for the members of her kindergarten and their par ents at the Recreation center last Friday morning. A program of Mother Goose and C.ristmas poems and carols was presented by the 22 children in the class after which the youngsters exchanged gifts. During the party Santa Claus appeared with goodies for the children and refreshments of punch, candies and cookies were served. Posters, drawings and number work prepared by the children was placed on exhibition for their par ents. , The East Club ronm in which the party was held was decorated in the Yuletide motif with lovely lighted red candles throughout. Mrs. Linwood Brinson Has Christmas Party Tuesday Mrs. Linwood Brinson entertain ed her bridge club with a lovely Christmas party at her home Tues day evening. A lighted Christmas tree with greens and candles was used for decorations. High score prize, a demitasse cup, was won by Mrs. John Willis while Mrs. Ray Alexander was con soled with a potted hyacinth. Refreshments were a red cinna man apple salad, cream cheese, Snow Man, crackers and coffee. During the evening the members exchanged gifts. Literary and Art Club Meets At Recreation Center The Literary and Art depart ment of the Woman's Club met at the Recreation Center last Wed nesday evening at 8 o'clock for their Christmas party. A short business session was held after which carols were sung and Mrs. John Lashley presented a recording of "The Littlest Angel." Two guests present for th party were Mrs. Marion Mills and Mr Whitehurst. The hostesses, Mrs. M. T. MH, Mrs. David Murray, and Mrs George Stovall, served fruit cake with whipped cream, nuts and hot tea. Poinsettias, cedar, red candles, holly and Christmas lights were used for decorations. Y.W.A.'s. Hold Ckrisimas Meeting At Baptist Church The Y. W. A.'s of the First Bap tist Church met at the Church Monday night for their regular Christmas meeting. Miss Annie Mae Willis was in charge of the program which was given in story and song. Devotioa also were given by Miss Therese Whealton. A business meeting will be held on Monday at 2:30 p.m. to plan for the new year. Floating Bridge Club Meets The Floating Bridge Club met Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Percy Deyo on Bridges Street.
