Mrs. Frank Ritter and two chil dren returned to Norfolk-Sunday after a week's visit wither, and Mrs. C. S. Maxwell. Mrs. John L. Smith of Mel bourne, Fla., arrived Monday for a short vijit with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dill. Bam Gibbs returned Wednesday from Kentucky where he spent the N?w Year's weekend. Mr. and Mrs. 0. T. Mundy have moved into their new house on Marsh street. Mrs. Jack Dill will leave Wed nesday for a visit to Melbourne, Fit. Billy Wells, who has been sta tioned in Germany for the past six months, returned to Beaufort Wednesday to rejoin Mrs. Wells and their two children. Mrs. G. W. Duncan returned home Saturday from Asheville where she had been visiting over the New Year week-end. Mr. and Mrs. William Smith have returned from Florida where they spent their wedding trip. Mrs. L. B. Wells is living in Wil mington while her husband is re ceiving treatment at the hosptial at Camp Lejeune. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Whitley left Sunday for Florida where they plan to spend the rest of the win ter. Mrs. Wiley Lewis took her son to Greenville Friday for medical at tention. Miss Josephine Sykes, her mo ther and Miss Annie Wells San ford, all of New Bern, spent Sat utday here Miss Sykes was for merly public health nurse in Car teret County, E. L. Davis returned home over the week-end from Winston-Salem where he had taken Mrs. Davis, who is receiving treatment at the Bowman Gray ITospital there. Mrs. Phil Thomas and Miss Laura Thomas will leave today for a peek's visit to St. Petersburg, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hubbard and son. B. H . of Whitestone, V?., ale visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Lewis. Wlss Lucille Wright, who will b* married on January 28th to Mr. Dan Ward Bowen, will return home this Saturday after finish ing the first semester at Duke u$ere she is a member of the freshman class. \ . -Mrs. T. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith left Thursday for a week's visit to Ctl Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bright and baby daughter will move this week end into an apartment in Inlet Inn. Miss Mary Ruth Nelson, a stu dent at ECTC, spent the week-end at home. -f Miss Annie Mm Gibbf returned to Beaufort Monday from Rich mond where she had been receiv ing medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Van Potter re turned home Wednesday from a visit to New York and Washing ton, D. C. Mrs. J. W. Humphrey returned to Beaufort Monday from Snow HiU where she had been visiting her parents. G. V. Harrell of Raleigh, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Scott. Mrs. John Hunt and Mrs. Taylor Mustain of Warrenton spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers Hunt. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Stewart are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Gene Seelbinder. Mr. A. C. Blankinship, an ECTC student, spent the week-end at home. Mrs. A. E. Bowen with her daughter-in-law and two grandsons of Windsor, Mrs. Mabel Wolfe and Mrs. George Purifoy of Morehead City spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. K. W. Wright. Mr. and Mrs. John Haynes were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. K. W. Wright Sunday evening. Wanda Owens Becomes Wife of John C. Gaskill Mr. and Mrs. Charles Owens have announced the marriage of their daughter, Wanda, to Mr. John Carlton Gaskill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gaskill of Harkers Island, on Saturday, Jan. 7, in New Bern. The bride was formerly cashier at Roses store in Beaufort. Mr. Gaskill is a graduate of Har kers Island high school and is an insurance agent with the Life and Casualty Co. in Morehead City. The young couple will make their home at 405 Turner itreet, Beaufort. Mrs. Moore Entertains Bridge Club Thursday Miss Madolyn Goodwin was spe cial guest Thursday evening when Mrs. Leslie Moore entertained her High score priie was won by Mrs. Oflen Merrill. During play Mrs. Moore served fruit juices and peanuts, and at the end of the evening she served fig pudding with hard sauoe and' coffee. Obituary CHARLES WHITFIELD GRAHAM Funeral services for Charles Whitfield Graham of Mill Creek, who died at hit home Thursday afternoon were held from the Bay View Missionary Baptist church at Mill Creek Friday afternoon. Burial was in the church ceme tery. Mr. Graham, who was 78. was the son of the late James C. and Martha Lewis Graham of Carteret county. He Is survived by his wife, Mrs. Blssie T. Graham, 2 daughters, Mrs Lottie G. Oglesby and Mrs. Maggie G. Chadwick, 4 sons, Lewis and Earl, both of New Jersey, Tom and Jessie, both of Harlowe, and 4 brothers, Elisha W. of Morehead City. Alec of Car teret county, and Jimmy and Al len, both of Harlowe. Store Wins Contest Beaufort Colonial store, of which J. S. Steed is the manager, re cently won a sales promotion con test in its district of seven coun ties. Colonial stores gave a din ner at the Trent Pines country club, New Bern, Wednesday night. The house was beauti fully decorated with a Christmas tree centered on the dining room table with glowing lights of all color*. Names were drawn and gifts were exchanged by all there. Twenty-one persons were present. Mrs. Herbert Hancock gave the devotional, minutes were read by the secretary. Mrs. Hilda. Gllltkin, after which dues were collected.
