I ^AorrP ? to/Upper Room 1/q I THI UMI IOOM toA^WVUJ ftNMWf IHf WORLDS MOST WIDELY USED DEVOTIONAL GUIDE "If I Be lifted Up . . ." FRIDAY, APRIL 11 (Good Friday) i He was wounded for our trans gressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: . . . with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5.) Read Isaiah 53:1 9 or Mark 15:1-15. It was not a mere accident that j Christ was put on the cross. This was part of God's plan of redemp tion. Barabbas was released. Christ was retained. He was crucified in stead of Barabbas. Christ, the Lamb of God, here proved His work and i purpose to release sinners. Al- 1 though unworthy of death, Jesus I died for all of us to save us from our sins. On the very day that He was I lifted up to die upon the cross, I Jesus began to draw people to Him | as never before. How magnetic and marvelous His drawing power! Here the dying thief said: "Lord, i remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." He sensed the situation and felt Christ's redemp tive spirit and power. He knew His pardoning grace. Since then, countless people have humbled themselves beneath the cross of Jesus and felt the saving unifying power of His spirit. Do you and I accept Christ's salvation? PRAYER Our heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the gift of Thy Son sent I to earth to redeem mankind. Help us to be faithful as we now pray and renew our fellowship with Thee. And there are people in this country who ire trying to push America down the same road. i They don't speak out for socialism openly ? they know most Americans don't want it. Instead, they give persuasive reasons for the steps that lead to socialism. There's one clue that will help you recognize this hidden socialism. It's the old line: "Let the federal government do it ? or run it ? or take it over ? or own and operate it." When you hear that, look out For the more things the federal government runs, the closer we are to socialism ? whether we want it or not ? and the fewer rights and freedoms we have left for ourselves. America can escape socialism ? here's how you can help: Recognize the step* * that lead to it. Help your friends and neighbors see the danger. And use your ballot wisely! ( CAROLINA PQWM ?
