(173) Sectior IX: It shall be unlawful for an) person or persons, firm or cor poration to ship or offer to ship oysters, clams, shrimp, escallops or crabs without a bill of consign ment and tax receipts from the shipper written or stamped in ink or indelible pencil, showing the date of shipment, quantity of each product shipped, and fo whom consigned. It shall be unlawful for any express company, rail road company, or any other com mon carrier to accept for ship ment. or to transport on the pub lie highways any shrimp, escal lops, clams, oysters or crabs with out the bill of consignment and tax receipts from the shippei showing the tax has been paid EXCEPT THAT IN THE CASE OF A SHIPMENT OF 8 PACK AGES OR LESS OF ANY OF THE ABOVE COMMODITIES, TAGS MAY BE USED." No fixed nets, traps oi gear of any description designed to capture fish shall be placed at any portion of the Intra-coastal waterway as it passes through th< State. The middle third of sounds and rivers In the commer cial waters of the State shall b< kept free of all nets, traps or fish ing gear designed to entrap fist or hinder their movement." Coast Guard Receiving Center here early next week. Scott attended Smyrna High School. Employed as a truck driv er, he was sworn in as a recruit in the U. S. Coast Guard on Oc tober 8, 1953 . He is assigned to the Operations Department. Entering the Navy in July 1945, Higgins attended the Electronics Technician School at the Naval Training Center. Great Lakes, 111.; the Radar Schools at Point Loma, Calif., and Naval Base, Norfolk; and the Ground Control Approach School at the Naval Air Technical Training Unit, Olathe, Kans. He Is a graduate of the Newport High School, and is married to the former Miss Margaret Curtin, of Norfolk, Va. Lackland Air Force Base, Texas ? Lawrence R. Gates, son of Mr. and Mrs L. L. Jasper E. Bell, 18, son of Mrs. Jannie F. Bell, route 1, Newport, is completing his AF basic airmen indoctrination course at Lackland Air Force Base, the "Gateway to the Air Force." Thomas Tubia Massa, hospital man first class, USN, husband of the former Gloria Faye Willis of Morehead City, is taking a special two-week course in amphibious medicine taught by the Amphibious Training Command, U. S. Atlantic Fleet, commanded by Rear Admiral Rufus E. Rose, USN. The course, given at the U. S. Naval Amphibious Base at Little Creek, Va., provides orientation in the overall conduct of amphibious operations as well as instruction in solving the special medical prob lems arising during an amphibious assault. He entered the Army Nov. 26. 1952 and attended the Associate Infantry Company Officen Courte at Fort Benning, Ca. He leaves Fort Campbell this moath and Im ports to Camp Stonenun, Calif., on March 12. 1954 enroute to the Par East. While in the llth Airborne Di vision, Lieutenant Smith attended the Mess Management Courte. He graduated from the Basic Airborne Training School at Fort Benning. Ga.. in May of 1953, and is now at tending the llth Airborne Division Jumpmaster School. At present Lieutenant Smith has 13 parachute jumps to his credit. San Diego, Calif. (FHTNC) ? JESSE PICKETT Jesse (Tobe) Pickett, 71, died Sunday night at Morehead City Hospital. Mr. Pickett, a retired fisherman, lived at Live Oak and Pine streets, Beaufort. Surviving is a brother, Sam, of Beaufort. Funeral plans were incomplete at press time yesterday. ? NATHANIEL A.
