WITH the 4-H'ERS MARTHA BARNETT Home Agent ALVIN C. NEWSOME Aaat County Ajeat Questions concerning eligibility i rules of the County Dress Revue ?re being asked each day. The fol lowing rules and regulations will be observed in the 4-H Dress Re vue this year. 1. Senior girls will not compete against junior girls. There will be two separate divisions. 2. A girl, in order to be declared county winner must bo 14 years old as of Jan. 1 of this year. 3. Only 4-H members who are cur rently and actively participat ing in Carteret County Clubs are eligible to compete in the Dress Revue. 4. Any commercial pattern can be used for the Dress Revue en semble. ' 5. Dresses made in home eco nomics classes are NOT eligi ble. 6. A lined tailored wool suit is not acceptable. The County Dress Revue win ner must plan to attend State 4-H Week in Raleigh, July 19-24. 8. The county winner must model the same dress in the State Dress Revue that she modeled in the County Dress Revue. She may make improvements. There are several projects that 4-H members can carry out that everyone may not know about. One of these projects is a broiler project. The project could work like this: buy 25, 50, or 100 Hamp shire cockerels (roosters) and brood 'til the chickens are 8-10 weeks of age. then kill and store in a home freezer or sell at 2% to 3 pounds. Any 4-H member can help pro fide the family food supply with such a project as this The coat is not too high and it doesn't take too long to get your money out of the project. There will be a 4-H tractor op erators' contest at Washington, N. C., July 8. Any 4-H member car rying a tractor maintenance project is eligible to participate in this contest. All good 4-H tractor drivers should enter the contest t^-cause there are several prizes to be awarded to the state winner. The contest will be composed of a short quiz on tractor safety, lin ing up belts from tractors to other machines, backing trailers into narrow spaces, and driving through an obstacle course. This contest can be a lot of fun as well as edu cational. An all-breed hog sale for pure bred swine breeders will be held in New Bern April 27. This sale has two purposes. One is to pro vide a sales outlet for 4-H mem bers and farmers for their pure bred hogs. Also anyone wanting good purebred stock to improve their present herd or start a new one can get good animals. Any 4-H members wanting to sell on this sale should contact the county agent's office for an entry blank. Raleigh ? Although North Caro lina isn't the first state to have a safely slogan on its auto license plates, it is the only state using such a tag this year the Motor Ve hicles Department said today.
