THE AFC AFC stands for A FINER CAROLINA. It is the name given the program begun in 1952 in the area served by this company and designed to build a Finer Carolina through community improvement - agricultural develop ment and industrial expansion. The program is in th? form of a contest among com munities and among farmers. The communities select and develop projects for the betterment of the community, and winners of the contest are awarded cash prizes by Caro lina Power & Light Company. More than 100 towns and communities took part in 1952, and worked on 887 projects for their improvement. Today 164 towns and communities are taking part. There are 1,500 farmers entered in the con 1 test and working on soil conservation projects on their own farms. . The Finer Carolina Program is growing in size and scope. Tangible results have been greater than anticipat ed throughout our service area. Naturally we are well pleased because - our future is the future of the area we serve.
