Cocbnan, of Southeastern Seminary, has been turned assistant p?stor of the First Baptist Church. Morehead City. He will be in charge of the Park view Baptist Mission, located on highway 70 opposite Mansfield Parkway. Mr. Coekman la $ graduate of Mart Hill Junior College, liars Hill, N. C? and Furman Univer sity, Greenville, S. C. For the past three . years be baa been pas tor of Jupiter Baptist Church near Asbeville, N. ? The mission is proceeding with plans to become a church. Sixty persons have indicated a desire to be charter members. , Mr. Cockman, his wife and daughter arrived in Morehead City last week and are living near the mission on highway 70. The mission, sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Morehead City, was organized last October for persons living west of the town who were unable to attend church in tpwn. The American Legion Hut was used until the first of the year when a suitable building was fpund and rented. Through efforts of the mission leaders and cooperation of pastor and members of the First Baptist Church, the property was purchased in April. The beginning Sunday School membership was 45, now 90 are enrolled. Prayer service is held each Wednesday night and with assistance of various ministerial students church services have been held each Sunday since last fall. Thomas Edison died at 84 in 1931.
