Schaub, exten Wins Honor Dr. Karl Busbee Pace, Green ville, has been named "Gener al Practitioner of the Year" by the North Carolina Medical So ciety. Price Need Not Ration Coffee With the price of coffee soaring, you may have been wondering Jiitf how you can make the same amount of coffee yield more cups. Virginia Wilson and Jewell Fes senden. State College nutritionists, say that the answer is to let no coffee go to waste. Make only the amount of coffee the family will drink at a meal and make it good. They add that using coffee substi tutes or the same grounds morp than once will give you something hot to drink, but will lack the full bodied flavor and aroma of good coffee. For best results with your coffee making, follow these suggestions: (1) Buy good coffee? that is the brand that suits your taste. Fine ly ground coffee makes a richer, stronger beverage than more coarsely ground coffee. For cof fee at its best, buy only small quantities at'a time, keep it in air tight containers and use it before it becomes stale, (2) Keep your coffee maker ab solutely clean. Miss Wilson and Mrs Fessenden point out that more poor coffee results from failure to keep your coffee pot absolute ly clean than from any other one factor. Wash your coffee maker thoroughly right after use. It will also be easier to keep out stale odors and flavors if you wash with clean, soapy hot water and then rinse thoroughly. (3) Pse water that is freshly drawn and boiled for making cof fee. Water that has stood or boiled too long gives coffee a flat taste. Measure coffee and Water you use If you want good coffee the way you like it every time. For weak i toffee, use one level tablespoon coffee for Vi cup water; for me dium coffee, use two level table spoons coffee for each 34 cup of water; and for strong coffee, use lion program planning specialist. You ihould brim your own bod linen, blanket, pillow, toweU and personal articles. Miss Schaub said. Good, inexpensive meals will be available at the State College Cafe teria, she added. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 8:30; lunch from noon to 2 p.m.; and supper from 9:30 to 7 o'clock. June 3- Mrs. Avant Long and Mrs. Eva Longston, New Bern, visited in the community Friday. Government Approves Land-Sea Ferry Service Washington (AP) -The General Services Administration (GSA) has approved the proposal of the Me-, Lean Trucking Co., Winston-Salem, N. County Farmers Agree to Spud Promotion Plan Potato growers of the county have voted in favor of forming an organization to promote the sale of Irish potatoes. They met Wed nesday at Beaufort in the court house. The program calls for a small fee to be paid by each grower for advertising that will promote the sale and consumption of Car olina potatoes. The proposed organ ization would be similar to Tobacco Associates or the North Carolina Peanut Growers Association. The 1947 General Assembly 1 passed an act allowing farmers to develop a program which would increase the consumption of products they grow. Before such a program is started, farmers ' are required to express their opin ion in a referendum. Attending the meeting were Will H. Rogers, a director of North Car olina Farm Bureau, who explained the program. He was assisted by Hugh Martin, representative of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture; Paul Shackelford, dis trict field representative of the State Farm Bureau; R. M.
