Il AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PUBLIC October 1, 1954 Dear Customers and Friendi: During the year* we have set-red you at FREEMAN BROTHERS, we have teen many changes in the retail business. Most of us have forgotten the OPA and the ration stamps, meat lists, sugar lists and shortages. The most important change which has come about is perhaps unknown to most of our customers. This is the matter of credit with supply houses. There was a time when merchants were allowed ft-om two weeks to a month to remit tb their suppliers. This situation exists only partially today. All meat wholesalers, for example, are demanding payments on a weekly basis, and as you can realize, this is practically the same as cash. It has been our privilege to extend credit to many of our city's people. For the most part, these families have maintained excellent credit relations with us. Very few have not been as good as their word. Our store is now operating under the management of REV. HUBERT PAGE, General Manager; MR. J. J. EWELL, Assist, to Manager and Manager of Produce Dept., and MR. ABBIE JONES, Manager of Meat Market. The one aim of aH of the personnel of FREEMAN BROTHERS is BETTER BUYS for LOWEST PRICES. In order to accomplish this aim, we need the assistance of all of you. WE NEED YOUR CASH BUSINESS in order to b* able to buy in quantity and secure dis counts which we can pass on to you in the form of lower prices. WE NEED THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE ABLE AT THIS TIME TO DO SO, to try to help us reduce our accounts receivables. ? WE NEED TO PUT THIS MONEY into merchandise for your benefit through better buys and lowest prices. * All of us here at FREEMAN BROTHERS are local people, operating independently. We would like you to visit us, give us your- suggestions for improvements, compare our price*, and buy if you will. Will you help us to make FREEMAN BROTHERS the bfcst INDEPENDENT buy in the city? We will deliver to your door. If you wish to pay, our courteous drivers will coltefct. We strive to give you SERVICE with a smile. What would you like for as to bring you today? Phone, if you will, 6-311S or <-3116 and let us know. Yours for better, faster, lower priced service, J. 'J. Ewell Abbie Jones Gordon TsrssfH Gladys Colenda Virginia Edward* Curtis (Pete) Davis
