The chapter members elected Dorothy Jarman to fill the vacancy of tfte parliamentarian office. Rita Mason and Sue Sewell were appointed to work with a commit tee to provide more recreation for the chapter members. The group voted to follow tradi tion and attend church in a body, Oct. 31, in celebrating National FHA week through Nov. 6. Jane Safrit was appointed committee chairman of this celebration. The president, Ada Sue, an nounced that a bus has been char tered to carry FHA members to the State Fair, Oct. 22. The trip will be well chaperoned. Three chapter mothers were elected as honorary members, Mrs. Dee Fodrie, Mrs. Bennie Willis, and Mrs. Norwood Young. Catherine Potter was appointed chairman of the decorating com mittee for the dance being spon sored in the Scout Building after the Shallotte football game. Judy Taylor and Carolyn Daniels were appointed to tell concessions. The ways and means committee reported a *55 profit during Sep embcr. Judge Issues ' Arrest Report Judge Earl Mason of Beaufort Recorder's Court released Tuesday a report on the number of " ar rests" made by the Beaufort police department during the 39 weeks from Jan. 1 to the end o < Septem ber. Judge Mason said he requested that the report be ' compiled to "Brove that Beaufort is not a speed trap." He further said, "This court does not try any parking cases, either." The reporter asked, "In other words, parking violators merely go to the police and pay their fine?" The judge replied, "Yes." In court Tuesday sfternoon in the case of Steven S. Stephenson charged with parking on the wrong side of Gordon Street and block ing the street, the judge said he would not hear I he case "because we don't try parking cases in this court." The solicitor. Gene Smith, said "We'll take a nol pros," which means that the case was dropped. The report released by Judge Mason showed the number of "ar rests" made by each officer dur ing the 39 weeks defined above: Cheif M. E. Guy 94. Assistant Chief Carlton Garner, 210, Officer Maxwell Wade 48, and Officer Steve Beachem 66. The average number of "ar rests" per week for each officers, according to the judge's report, was as follows: Chief Guy 2.41, Assistant Chief Garner 5.38, Offi cer Wade 1.23 and Officer Beach em 1.09. The average "arrests" per week are 10.72, the average made dur ing the day was 3.64 and the aver age at night 7. President Calls Dinner 'Best Yet' "The best attendance we've ever had at a Chamber of Commerce affair," was the comment of Ber nard Leary, president of the More head City Chamber of Commerce, following the first annual employ er-employee dinner Tuesday night at Capt. Bill's on the beach. The event featured the Cherry Point "Harmaniacs," door prizes and no speeches. Three hundred were served the chicken and dump ling dinner. Ted Davis, manager of the cham ber, explained that the event was a "get-acquainted" affair for em ployer-members of the chamber and their employees. "Some meetings of this type tend to drag out for a couple of hours," Mr. Di^is remarked yesterday, "but this one was over an hour af ter it began. Then those who cared to dance enjoyed themselves for as long as they liked." Mrs. Theodore Phillips played dinner music on the organ.
