Whitehurst holdings in this county. The map shows land in Straits and is owned by Mrs. Winifred Willis, sister of Mrs. Lowe. At right Sgt. Joe Smith of the Morehead City police force, who was on guard in the rooip to pro tect theft of the items, listens to "spirit voices" on an old fashioned crank telephone. The phone was loaned by Mrs. Ar thur Sheppard. In front of it are candle molds. On the table at right are steins, old silver pieces and pewter. In the foreground is the head of the walking cane and the pistol owned by Maj. George A. Eastman who was an officer in the Union Army. The items were loaned by George Eastman, Morehead City. The cane and pistol were pre sented to Major Eastman by President Lincoln. One of the most attractive tables at the baraar was the table where wares made by the men's club were sold. Standing behind the table are Stanley Woodland, and barely visible at the right is Wil liam H. Lewis. The bazaar was held Wednesday afternoon at the recreation building. Catholic Society Elects Officers for New Year The officers for the coming year were elerted by the Altar and Ro sary Society of St. Egbert's Catho lic Church at their meeting Wed nesday night at the rectory. Mrs. John A. Pavone was elect ed president, Mrs. W. W. Patrick vice-president, and Mrs. Pat Wil liams secretary-treasurer. The officers will be installed at a dinner to be held in January. The time and place will be an nounced later. The society will give a Christ mas party for the children of the parish Sunday, Dec. 16, beginning at 2 p.m. Mrs. Bill Fahy, retiring presi dent, presided. Refreshments were served after the meeting, which was attended by 18 members.
