BaldwUi of Cerro and also Mrs. Hibbs' aunt and her two children. Leon A. Mann and son. Mayor Leon Mann Jr., visited the Rev. and Mrs. C. T. Rogers in Tarboro Sunday. Miss Helen Wbsoo of W'l'ning ton was the weekend guest of Mrs. Ruby Woodruff. Mrs. Manly Mason and Mrs Rena Edwards went to Raleigh Monday to carry Miss Willilou Mason, who Is a student at Mere dith College. The Rev. C. T. Rogers of Tar boro was a business visitor here Tuesday. Circles Meet The Gertie Howard Circle met Feb 1 with Mrs. Moses Howard There were thirteen members present. The meeting was called to order by the chairman. Mrs. Guy Gar ner. The devotional was given by Mrs Harry Mitclle. Mrs. C. M lliU and Mrs. Wil bur Garner presented the program. I The Susannah Wesley circle met with Mrs. Bob Montague tcb. 4 with fifteen present. Mrs. Montague, assisted by Mrs. Floyd Garner, Mrs. Ralph Hem ing and Mrs. Ncal Garner, pre sented the program. Mrs. Alfred Bryson gave the spiritual life thought. During the social hour the hos tess served valentine punch and heart shaped cookies. Sergeant Joins Signal Company, Fort Gordon Fort Gordon, Ga. ? Army Sgt Theodore M "Bee ton, sod of Mr. and Mrs Milei Becton. 1207 Fish er St., Morebead City, recently was assigned to the 206th Signal Company at Fort Gordon, Ga. Sergeant Becton, a supervisor in the company, entered the Army in 1952 and completed basic train ing at Fort Gordon. The 23-year-old soldier attended Elizabeth City State Teachers Col lege. His wife, Josie, lives in Au gusta, Ga. Great Lakes. 111.? Wave Julia A. Congleton. teaman, USN, daugh ter of Mrt. R. F. Newman of 308 Moore St.. Beaufort, ia serving with the Fleet Home Town News Center at the Naval Training Cen ter, Great Lakes. 111. She is attached to the mailing room at the news center which disemminates news releases on Navy and Marine Personnel. Before entering the service in 1955. He is an aviation electronics tech nician first class. Here he is congratulated by his commanding of ficer, Capt. R. G. Dose, who administered the re -enlistment oath. Goose Air Base. Labrador? Air man Third Class Graham B. Brad shaw, route 2 Newport, a helicop ter mechanic currently stationed at this Northeast Air Command base on the edge of the Canadian Arctic, is a member of the 6614th Air Transport Group which re cently received the United Stales Air Force Flying Safety Award. Airman Bradshaw is assigned to the Group s 22nd Helicopter Squad ron which operates over an area one third the size of the United States. Although assigucd the mission of flying personnel, supplies and equipment over hazardous Arctic areas of Canada and Greenland, the Group's three squadrons sur passed all other Air Force units with its flying safety record. Airman Bradshaw has served with the United States Air Force the past year. Following gradua tion from Newport High School less served banana shortcake and coffee. Mrs. Ira Garner gave the spiri tual life thought. Mrs Charlie Millis was hostess to the Bessie Herrington circle! with eleven members precsnt. In the absence of Mrs. C. T. Garner, the program was given by Mrs. Clarence Millis. After the business session, a social hour was enjoyed, and the hostess served block ice cream I and cake. The Woman's Missionary Society of the Baptist Church had a mis sion study class Friday evening, with Mrs. Hamilton of Cherry Point teaching the course. A number of visitors attended and all reported a very interest ing and inspiring message. An intermission was given and the ladies served cake and coffee. where he participated in basket ball and baseball and won the baseball sportsmanship letter, Air man Bradshaw attended the Air Force helicopter mechanic school at Sheppard Air Force Base, Tex as, graduated as a certified heli copter mechanic. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Bradshaw. Airman Vernon W. Goodwin, 18. son of Mrs. T. V. Goodwin, 907 Shepard St., Morehead City, has completed the first phase of mili tary training at the "Gateway to the Air Force," Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Tex. lie has qualified for. specialized technical training and will be as signed to 3436th Student Squadron, Lowry AFB, Colo. While at Lackland the new en listee undergoes the transition from civilian to airman through a program which includes proces sing, aptitude testing, physical conditioning, survival and wea pons training, and varied class room studies ranging from citi zenship to military customs and courtesies. i ?
