March 6. Newport High is interested in organizing a Beta Club and the purpose of these stu dents' trip was to give a program explaining the meaning, objectives, history and standards of the Beta Club, to the Newport High stu dents. ED WHITEHURST Mrs. Evelyn Arthur Whitehurst, 60, of Beaufort died Saturday af ternoon in Morehead City Hospital, where she had been a patient for three weeks. Funeral services were held yes terday in the Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. W. A. Hales, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Rob ert Howard of Newport. Burial was in Oceanview Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Guy Ed Whitehurst; one daughter, Mrs. Henry Sala of Menlo Park, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Skgrren and Mrs. Turner Matthews of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Ivey Arthur of Bettic and T. D. Arthur of San Mateo, Calif.; and two grandchildren. AGNES MARIE CURRIER Agnes Marie Currier, three-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert L. Currier, died at her home at Mill Creek Saturday. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the home and burial was in the Curtis cemetery. Surviving, in addition to the par ents, are one brother, Robert Lee Jr., of the home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Swindell of Oriental; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. T. H. Lockhart of Newport. Presbyterians to Meet For District Conference The women of district four will meet for a district conference at First Presbyterian Church tomor row. Eight churches in the district will be represented. Registration will begin at 9:30 anjl the meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Following the meet ing the delegates will go to Sani tary Restaurant for {unch. The Rev. Alvis Daniel of Wild wood will give the invocation and devotion. The Rev. The Beta Club expresses its thanks to Mr. Comer, principal of Newport High School, for his in vitation to come and give the pro gram. Representative Visits On Tuesday, March 4, Mr. Rob ert Morris of the Central Intelli gence Agency of Washington, D. C., came to the Morehead City High School to talk to senior girl typing students. Mr. Morris spoke to the girls of the many advantages of a typist's job in Washington, and showed the girls pictures of the buildings where they might work or live. The few disadvantages were over shadowed by the advantages, which were many. FHA Buffet Sapper Eighty-five Future Homemakers and mothers attended a buffet sup per in the library of Morehead City High School on Tuesday eve ning. A fiesta was used as the motif for the decorations. Serapes in gay colors, sombreros, baskets and pottery, and bright candles in waxed bottles decorated the tables where the guests ate. Favors were senoras. The buf fet table had a large centerpiece of fruit on a gay scrape with' large bottle candle holders. Jessie White, president, wel li ~ corned the mothers, dedicating this gathering to them at a token of the girls' gratitude for what the mother* uieao to tbein. After using the opening ceremony of the FHA, j and singing the paryer song, sup- 1 per was served. This consisted of barbecued chic ken, stuffed baked potatoes, baby limas. homemade rolls, deviled eggs, relishes, cream puffs, iced tea and coffee. For the program Sarita Beds worth led in an action song and in a round, Linda Lockhart gave a Spanish Dance, while Doris Far mer and Donna Guthrie gave an American interpretation. t A game of charades was played, several tables taking a slip from the Pinata (grab bag) and other tables guessing what movie or song they were interpreting.
