Brownie Troop Learns
How to Set Table
Brownie Troop 185 met at the
home of Mrs. G. E. Sanderson
Wednesday afternoon. The roll was
called and dues were collected.
Then we said our Girl Scout prom
ise, motto, slogan and laws.
Our leader, Mrs. Peggy Donnel
ly, taught us how to set a table
correctly, which is our Tenderfoot
requirement in homemaking.
Mrs. Sanderson served cookies,
potato chips and colas. We played
bingo for a while and then ended
our meeting with the friendship
circle and taps.

Recent Bride Honored
At Shower Friday Night
Mrs. Robert Russell Jr., a recent
bride, was honored Friday night at
a shower given by her mother-in
law, Mrs. Warren Taylor. The
honoree was presented a corsage
of pink carnations and Joined the
hostess in greeting the guests.
Mrs. Lyle Pasineau presented
each guest with a novelty name
tag of tulip design.
Rounds of bingo were played and
winners were Mrs. Lloyd Graham,
Mrs. Pasineau, Mrs. Alena Lewis,
Mrs. Delmas Willis, Mrs. L. D.
Springle, Mrs. Buck Newsome,
Mrs. Frank Mcintosh, Mrs. C. A.

Davis last week. Mrs. Davis used

Adult Sawing Class Will
Meet Tomorrow Evening
The adult sewing class at the
Morehcad City School will meet
tomorrow night from T:30 to S:M,
in the home economics depart
ment.
At this session, Mrs. D. Cordova,
instructor, will demonstrate alter
ing a pattern, placing pattern on
the material, cutting out and
methods of marking. Each one
should bring her own pattern and
material.
The class is free and anyone in
terested is invited to attend to
morrow night's class.

To Bridge Club Friday
Mrs. Richard Spears entertained
her bridge dub Friday evening at
her home. Mrs. Bob Houston was
the only guest.
High score was won by Mrs. A.
B. Vick Jr. and low score was
won by Mrs. Waldron Baily Jr.
Prior to bridge, a spaghetti sup
per was enjoyed. During progres
sions the hostess served mints and
coffee and at the conclusion of
play ice cream Easter bunnies and
coffee.

denly at her home Friday. She
was the daughter at Mr. and Mrs.
W. P. Freeman of Morahead City.
In addition to her parents, she
is survived by her husband, Frank
Johnson of Richmond; a son, Jim
mie, who is in the Navy; a daugh
ter, Suzanne, of the borne; a sis
ter, Mrs. Grover Munden of More
head City; and a brother, Robert
Freeman of Morehead City.
Mrs. Johnson was found dead in
the bathroom of her home Exact
time of death was not known.
The funeral service and burial
will be in Morebead City. The
time will be set when Mrs. John
ion's son who was aboard ship,
arrives in this country.

"equal work, equal pay," are mak
ing steady progress in the long
battle (or wage equality with men.
A report by the International La
bor Organisation (1LO), prepared
annually to provide information on
the results of efforts by UN mem
bers to eliminate wage discrimi
nation against women, shows wage
discrimination against women still
exists but is Wing slowly reduced.
Equal Pay Bills
In the United States, congres
sional hearings are expected this
year on some of the many federal
equal par bUla introduced by wo
men lawmakcra.
On the (lata level, the Mate Fed
erations of Business and Provi
sional Women's Clubs are play
ing a bis rale. In Wisconsin and
Ohio equal par bills have bean
introduced by federation members.
In New York and Peoaaylvaala

pay legialation to enforce the ex
tenaioo of coverage to all em
ployee
California passed a strengthen
ing amendment to equal pay legis
lation last year and Nehraaka
adopted a resolution favoring it.
