Morehead City Eagles Lose to Pamlico Central The Sorehead City Eaglet dropped a 8-5 decision to Pamlico Central Thursday afternoon at Bay boro. The Eagles outhit the win ners 10 hits to (our but walks and errors by the Eagles gave Pamlico the edge. The Eagles scored one run in the first inning and one in the second before Pamlico could push a run across. Pamlico struck back with one run In the third and three in the fourth. Score Tied The Eagles tied the score at four all in the fifth inning and forged ahead, 6-5, in the top of the sixth. Pamlico scored one in the bottom of the sixth and one more in the seventh to clinch the game. Eagle Coach Norman Clark said his buys hit well but had some se vere lapses in the field. Gary Guth rie, third baseman, was tne only inficldcr to go through the game without an error. Little Leaguers Begin Spring Practice Yesterday Sixty-five boys began working for positions in the Beaufort Little League yesterday afternoon. Of that number, 25 are .out for the first time and 40 are boys who went out but did not make one of the teams last year. League president Claud Wheatly Jr. has called a meeting for 8 to night at which time a practice schedule will be drawn up and final plans for the opening of the season will be discussed. The meeting will be at Dr. John Way's office on Front Street. No County League The chances are that there will not be a county baseball league this season. Harris Jr. Heads County Riding Club At tlx first meeting of the newly organized Carteret Corral, Horae and Saddle Club, 1. P. llama Jr., Beaufort, waa elected preaident. Other officers are George Phillip*, Morehead City, vice-president ; and Hiaa Gunhilde Gunneraeo, More head City, aecretary-traaaurer. In addition to the officers, two directors were elected. They are Dalton Eubanks, Beaufort, and Wil bur Willis, Morehead City, who with the officer*, will aerve aa the board of directors. The club will meet the first Fri day of each month at 7:30 at the Laty 3 atablea on Highway 70A acroaa from the Pepsi-Cola ware house. Sixteen persons are charter membera. A member must be at least 21 and own a horse or else the member and spouse must own a horse. Children under 21 whose parents own a horse or own a horse them selves may belong to the club but may not vote. Pusons who would like to Join may apply for member ship to an officer. They will be voted on by the other club mem bers. Dues will be a dollar monthly. The first outing planned is a hay ride in a covered wagon with horse owners riding horseback. Obituaries MRS. ANNIE J. BUNN Mrs. Annie Johnson Bunn, 87, mother of Dr. John H. Bunn of Morrhead City, died Thursday morning at Louisburg. She was the wife of the late Rev. D. T. Bunn of Franklin County. Funeral services were held at Duke Memorial Church Saturday morning by the Rev. Aubrey Tom ilson, assisted by the Rev. L. Par ker McLendon. Interment wai in Maple Springs Baptist Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Everette Brown of Burling ton; three sons, B. D. Bunn of Whiteville, Dr. Bunn of Morehead City and Luther, B. Bunn of Wash ington, D. C.; and eleven grand children, and great grandchildren. GEORGE W. GUTHRIE George W. Guthrie, 80, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Clara M. Lupton, 121 Halifax St., Ra leigh, Wednesday. Funeral aervicos were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Harlowe Meth odist Church The Rer. J. G. Lup ton. pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. DR. IRL Z. WENTZ Dr. Iri Ziegler Wentz, (1, a re tired physician, died suddenly Sat urday afternoon at hia recently completed home near Gales Creek. He had been living here only three months. The body was shipped to Phila delphia. Pa., where funeral ser vices will be conducted tomorrow from the Oliver Bair Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, a son, Robert Speetles of Strafford, Pa., and a daughter, Mrs. Joe Harrigan of Louistown, Pa. HENRY D. GARNER Henry David Garner, S3, of New port died at his home Saturday evening. Funeral services were held at the Primitive Baptist Church, Newport, yesterday after noon. Elder Major Simmons officiated, assisted by Elder Walter Roberts. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Newport. Mr. Garnel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Garner; one daugh ter, Mrs. Leonard Thompaon of Durham; three sons, Alvin and Vernon J. (Ted) Garner, both of Morehead City, and Owen K. Sanders, Morehead City, and Russell E. Bunch Jr., Beaufort, collided at Arendell and Bonner Streets at 1:43 p.m. Saturday. Morehead City Police Chief Herbert Griffin inves tigated. Chief Griffin said that the wreck happened when Mr. Sanders start ed to make a left-hand turn, not realizing that Mr. Bunch was pass ing him. The left side of Mr. San ders' 1959 Plymouth was damaged and the right side of Mr. Bunch's 1950 Chrysler was damaged. Commissioners Postpone | Dates of Board Meetings Beaause yesterday was a holi day, the county board of com missioners postponed their meet ing until 10 a.m. this morning. The courthouse was closed yester day. The Beaufort (own board, which usually meets on the first Monday, has postponed its meeting until next Monday night. Two Defendants Get Jail Time Judge Herbert Phillips sentenced two defendants to jail terms in last Monday's Morehead City Re corder's court. Luther Brown got 90 days for stealing from Rose's 9 & 10. Dave Hill got 30 days for public drunkenness. G. C. Dunn was taxed one-half court costs for having no city tag on his vehicle. Richard Lewis King forfeited a cash bond rather than stand trial for running a red light. The judge continued a public drunkenness charge against Elijah Lewis indefinitely and ordered it taken off the docket. The state did not prosecute two defendants. They were Robert E. Glazier, charged with speeding, and John A. Morrison Jr., charged with failure to yield the right of way. Case? were continued against Charles Holland Jr., J. T. Brown, J. C.
