God's Little Acre to Play At City Theatre Next Week Man Passes Bad Check to Court J. H. Long of Tarboro was pulled into More head City re corder's court Monday for passing a bad check? to the court. Judge Herbert Phillips let him off for court costs and payment of the $25 check. Two defendants were fined $50 plus court costs. They were Rosser Lee Gwynn, convicted of careless and reckless driving, and Richard Gillikln, convicted of public drunk enness and resisting arrest. Richard L. llartness was fined $25 for driving without a license, $10 for speeding and $15 plus court costs for careless and reckless driving. A 30-day sentence was suspended on payment of the fines and costs and his agreement not to drive for 90 days. Elijah Lewis was fined $25 plus costs for public drunkenness. Rus sell A. Prince was fined $15 plus costs for speeding and driving without complying with restrictions on his license. Rush Ward, Fort Bragg soldier, was fined $10 plus costs for peep ing into a woman's room. He was instructed to see a psychiatrist. James Albret Lloyd and Julius S Simoncic were charged court costs. Lloyd was found guilty of running a red light and Simoncic was convicted of public drunken ness. Two overtime parkers were fined $2 and ordered to pay one-third court coats. They were D. J. Playing the role of Joe Chapin, Gary Cooper has become the visual personification of the O'Hara hero. Diane Varsl plays his daughter, who becomes involved with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks and Suzy Parker, making her first starring portrayal, plays the girl who brings true love into Chapin's life. This Happy Feeling will play at the Morehead Theatre Wednesday through Saturday. Debbie Reynolds is co-starred in the movie with continental favorite Curt Jurgens and the rising young star John Saxon. The play concerns the romantic involvement that befalls an un sophisticated girl from Brooklyn and a retired idol of the stage. Willis, USCG, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dola Willis and hus band of the former Barbara Dow num, Beaufort, has been com mended for meritorious service aboard the USCG cutter Meadota on Jan. 12, 1958. The Mendota was requested to furnish assistance to combat a fire on the SS Southland in the Cape Fear River at Wilmington. The fire was smoldering in the forward hold which contained 17 tons of matches. The commendation states that Willis was dispatched to the scene with oxygan breathing apparatus, entered the smoke-filled hold and under extremely hazardous condi tions fought the fire along with city fire fighters. When a city fireman became disabled, Willis moved him from the dark hold and assisted him to safety. He then returned to fight the fire until it was brought under control and extinguished. A. C. Richmond, vice admiral, USCG, told Willis, "You are com mended for your outstanding per formance of duty on this occasion. By your meritorious service, you upheld the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard." Woman Blames Parents For Juvenile Delinquents Enid, Okla. (AP) ? Mrs. Nora Belle Dozier, Enid police woman, thinks parents are mainly to blame for juvenile delinquency. She reported an Enid mother called the police department re garding the new curfew law and said: "I sure am glad you passed that law. Now maybe you can get my children to stay home .at night." 10 Cases Heard In Beach Court Chiracs against W defendants were heard Monday night in At lantic Beach mayor's court. Judgements were as follows: Lloyd Galltnore, Raymond L. Liggett and Lewis E. Parker Jr., all of Cherry Point. Sound guilty of trespassing on private property; each paid $15 fine and costs. Lewis Deshies, Camp Lejeune, paid coats for b?ing drunk in pub lic and disturbing the peace. U1 lard Willis, Harkers Island, found guilty of public drunkenness and resisting arrest, paid $10 fine aad court coats. Johnny Johnson, Camp Lejeune, paid costs for public drunkenness. A. D. Jarman, Swans boro, and Robert M. Miskiv, Cherry Point, were ordered to pay costs for fighting. Robert L. Allen, WinterviUe, N. C., forfeited bond. He was charged with public drunkenness. John E. Sauders, Cherry Point, was fined 15 and costs for public drunken ness and disturbing the peace. The new jail at Atlantic Beach was put into use for the first time last weekend, reports Bill Moore, chief of police. Peggy Jo Wallace To Represent Club In Beauty Contest Peggy Jo Wallace will represent the Newport Rotary Club in the county dairy princess contest in June. The Rotarians selected her at their meeting at the school lunchroom Monday night. Other girls considered by the club were Peggy Cannon, Carol Harmon, Betty Jo Whitaker, Ueen Smith and Myrna Fulcher. The girls ate supper with the Rotarians and then went through a question and answer routine with county home agent, Mrs. Floy Garner.
