The Kev. D. M. Tyson, pastor, officiated at the double ring cere mony Floor baskets of white gladiolas were placed on either side of the altar and an arrange ment of orange blossoms was placed on the piano. The altar rail was entwined with ivy. Mrs. Rosa Murphy of Davis pro vided nuptial music. Wedding se lections included The Sweetest Story Ever Told and Always. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Mr. Elmer Gillikin. She wore a ballerina length gown of lace and tulle over taffeta. The lace bodice featured a high neckline and bong sleeves ending in points over the hands. The bouf fant skirt featured tiny lace and tulle ruffles over a taffeta under skirt. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a crown of lace em broidered with seed pearls. She carried a white prayer book topped with a white orchid and showered with satin streamers. I Miss Cynthia Sue Gillikin, sister | of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a mint green ballerina length gown. The gown featured a 1 strapless bodice and a bouffant 1 skirt of nylon net over taffeta, j highlighted with panels of ruffles. Miss June Carolyn GiUikin, sis ter of the bride, was bridesmaid. ' She wore a pale yellow gown iden tical to that of the honor attend ant. Both attendants carried nosegays of pink carnations. Mrs. Tommy Euro Hostess To Bridge Club Friday Mrs. Tommy Eure entertained the Thursday evening bridge club at ber home on Friday night last week. Guests were Mrs. Tommy Fowen, Mrs. Billy Downum and Mrs. N. F. Eure. Mrs. Eure used roses and pome granate to decorate her home. Prior to bridge, a dessert of French glace strawberry pie with coffee was served. During play, the hostess served lemonade, po tato chips, candy and salted nuts. Guthrie, 91, 01 Broad Creek died in Morehead City Hos oital Saturday. Funeral services Were held in the Broad Creek Church of God yesterday by the Rev. Fred Petrea and the Rev. Ed Jones. Burial waa in the com munity cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Daisy Salter Guthrie; two daugh ters, Mrs. Emma Willis of Salter Path and Mrs. Elena McGowan of Broad Creek; ona son. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gillikin. She is a graduate of Smyrna High School and the Morehead City School :ommercial class. She is employed at Askew's as a bookkeeper. Four Carteret County Women Receive Degrees at WC Sunday i Iau Woodard Ann Margaret Scripture Among the 440 graduates from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina Sunday were four from Carteret County. They were the Misses Inez Woodard, Grace Ellen Whitehurst, Mary Phyllis Pake of Beaufort and Ann Margaret Scripture of Morehead City. Miss Woodard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Woodard, 1501 Ann St., Beaufort. During her four years at WC she was a mem ber of the sociology club and Le Circle Francais. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. Miss Whitehurst, daughter of Mrs. Maggie Whitehurst, was a candidate for a bachelor of arts degree in English. Miss Pake received a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting. .She is the daughter of Mr. Mrs. Hugh G. Coast Guard Wives Club Will Meet Thursday Night The Fort Macon Coast Guard Wives Club will mcel Thursday night at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. John Gaskill in Glendale Park. The club was recently organized 'and is open to wives of Coaft Guardsmen, both retired and those on active duty. The club meets the first Thursday of each month.
