Marshallberg Firemen Give Aid The Marshallberg Volunteer Fire Department was called Saturday at 4 a.m. to * Are at Gillikin's Brothers Boat Works, Harkers Is land, and was on the scene of the fire in 20 minutes. The building was completely ablaze and the department was unable to save it, but extinguished one boat that was afire on the outside, saved several others and a huge supply of lumber. The owner of the boat works and residents of Harkers Island expressed their appreciation for the fine Job the fire department did. There will be a pie sale at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at the com munity building in Marshallberg to raise much needed funds to keep the department in operation. Pies will sell for $1 each or 25c per slice with coffee. The fire department wishes to emphasize that the area from Ot way to Harkers Island to Willis ton which was designated to them at the last meeting of all county fire departments is being covered by the Marshallberg department. Any calls will be gladly answered at any time but the fire depart ment reminds these communities to realize that this is an expensive operation. Any donations will be Krently appreciated. Eudy, 1524 Ann St., Beaufort, recently completed eight weeks of basic combat training with the 2nd Ar mored Division at Fort Hood, Tex. Eudy was graduated from Beau fort High School in 1853 and North Carolina State College in 1957. He was employed by the Kissimmee (Fla.) Recreation Department in civilian life. Pvt. James W. Morris, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Morris, Stella, recently completed eight weeks of basic combat training with the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Tex. Augsburg, Germany ? Sgt. Ken Janes W. Morris I" ? 1 W. H. (Bill) End? neth O. Toodle, whose wife, Isa bella. lives it 631 Frlnk St., Fay ettevilte, recently spent ? three day pass in Brussels where he visited the World's Fair. Sergeant Toodle ia regularly as signed to Company E of tike 11th Airborne Division's 187th Infantry in Augsburg, Germany. He entered the Army in November 19SG and arrived in Germany on this tour of duty in April 1956. The 26-year-old soMier attended W. S. King High School, Morehea^ City. Wichard and Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Scott visited Mr. Guy Scott who is a patient in the sanitorium at Mc Cain Wednesday. Master Monnie Willis and Miss Beverly Willis are both patients at the Sea Level hospital, receiv ing treatment after an operation. A farewell party was given at the home of Peggy Fulford, in honor of Nettie Lou Scott, Wed nesday night. All of her friends were invited. Refreshments were served to the guests after games were played. Everyone who at tended had a wonderful time. Mrs. George Burrus of Greens boro is here attending the camp meeting.
